Just got off the phone with one of the venders who was at Gore, and sells new replacement knuckles for a Dana 44. I talked to them this weekend at Gore, and was told to call this week to get a set.

Well I called today, and they won't sell them to me. They will only sell me knuckles, tie rods and drag link.

What piss poor customer service. guess I will never buy anything from them again.

Ya D Tuff

tough to deal with

Why do you need new knuckles?

sometime a previous owner cut the end of the knuckles off, then rewelded them on opposite sides, so they could do a tie rod over conversion. While it has held for 20 something years, it would be nice to get new knuckles. Just for peice of mind.

You would think they would want to make a sale, especially in this economy, but guess they have tons of money.

I think I am going to rip off everything I ever bought from them, and replace them with stuff from, Chuck, Tom, or WH

Ya, that burns.
I would call back and ask to speak with the person you spoke to at Gore.
Hope it works out.

I think RegShawn still has the pair I gave him
I bet he would let them go. They came off a 78/79 BB D44 HP

Don, never noticed that on your rig, nor have you mentioned it before.

Keep an eye on the parts forum, knuckles pop up on there every so often. Here is a set that was on there a while ago.

Hey Ken
That sounds like my best option, find a set of stock knuckles, weld the tapper straight, then re tap them fron the top side.

I guess I will contact him.

It is just to bad, as they told me about there New Knuckles this weekend. I got all excited about them, to then find out today that they won't sell me them.

that doesn't make any sense. seems like it's less work and they want more money. are they cast with the holes already tapered?

Don, any luck on knuckles yet?

Don't forget that when you go to swap the knuckles that would be a great time to have the Cs on the D44 rotated.

I have 78-79 knuckles. The tie rod is lower than stock 77. With a tie rod over they will be about the same as stock 77 or slightly higher but I am not sure on the latter. They haven't been cleaned up. A pair will fit in a USPS flat rate box if the studs are out. You can re-install them when they arrive. There is no rush so keep looking locally.
