Anyone have a good source for GT40-P heads? Rebuilt or remanufactured or ?
I see them on eBay and Amazon
Wondering if there is a quality source for them

I would just look up on facebook marketplace gt40P or look up an explorer motor and strip the motor, then have them rebuilt. I am still seeing the explorer motors compete with serpentine system for 500$ in some areas.

Honestly, they are OK heads but I would go aftermarket if I could afford them.

I bought a set of the gt40 from a buddy and had them rebuilt with better components, but in the end I will probably want better heads at some point? maybe...

You do know the GT40P heads have funny spark plug angles that severely limit the exhaust options. Stock manifilds require clearancing and only a few headers will work.

GT40P heads are the best flowing stock Ford head. The spark plug angle is the downside.

I have a set of Sanderson headers that work with them

Pull a set at the junkyard on a half off day and have them decked with new valve seals done.

Where are you located? That might also help if anyone here has a set.

I have a pair of them that have been checked at the machine shop and are bare. Let me know if you are interested in them.

Don’t have anybody going that way anytime soon that I am aware of.
Otherwise, I could ship you a nicely refurbished set. 😉😁

The '97 up Explorers got the P heads. My research led me to see minimal advantage over other GT40 heads. That advantage can be overcome with a pocket porting job and all the exhaust parts then work with any manifold or header. There are enough part compatibility problems without making new ones. I first used E7TE heads from Mustang GTs and got no measurable power increase. The GT40 heads were next and only got slightly more compression that did help some. The P heads came out and my engine builder could see no reason to swap heads again. I agreed.

check local machine shops, if they dont have 10 stacked up getting rusty, i would be surprised. Of course, thats if there are any machine shops left in the world.

The TW170's I got bolted up exactly the same with a single turbo kit plumbing, over my stock 86 HO swirl ports
(on a fox body, not an EB).
