Well yesterday I finally got deep into removing the steering knuckles/ball joints. Found some signs that the PO was in there before. I had to grind/cut/split the dvrs top nut off. No matter what we did (we tried the jack and weight it and tried the ball joint pickle fork wedge it trick).

The dvrs side upper ball joint stud kept turning and I could not get the nut off. The bottom stud threads were a wreck also. But that nut finally came off too with a 3/4 breaker bar.

Then the caster/camber inserts were real hard to get out also. The 4 point tool kept popping back out, no matter the down ward pressure. Milwaukee impact and bump bump bump, got them.

Then I cleaned up the PO hack marks the best I could. And then finally got the old ball joint out of the knuckles. Going to use Mevotech TTX for all 4, any advice on the install? I have some Moog uppers only also, just in case.

Well confirmed today that I need a replacement passenger side steering knuckle. The upper ball joint hole was a little oval looking to the naked eye. When I hammer tapped the knuckle off, and if hit the floor, the upper ball joint (MOOG) just fell out.

I set the replacement ball joint in place and had contact on the hole, upper and lower points (12&6) and had NO contact and a visible gap at the (3&9).

So who has a spare passenger side steering knuckle Spicer symbol and 620169R, I am in desperate need of one.

Is that a disc, or drum part?
I hate to say I have one, because I’m not sure which side I have in storage, or if I could even find it under which stack. But I do know that I have one.

Better to have someone more reliable. Perhaps Nick at Northeast Classic. Or Randy from the old driven auto parts, in case he still has one in his stash.
Then again, we sometimes have those things at WH, as does Toms and Jeff’s from time to time.
So if none of the members here have any, you might find one through the usual sources.

Disk brakes, open knuckle, 5 spindle bolts, #620169R. I appreciate the leads on sources to check. I checked all the normal sources, but only had time for a quick glance, and not a hard dig yet. Thank you, once I get this issue fixed and come reassemble time, I am FINIALLY getting those 4130 Chromoly axle shafts w/CTM u joint installed. The ones I bought, like a many years ago.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. But I have had these axle WAY to long to not have then IN the Bronco. On the initial install (of the axles) it was discovered that the splines were not cut deep enough by the manufactures (sub-contractor). But we/they got it handled, just not fast enough to make a wheeling trip with that Bronco. I should of NOT started that project right before wheeling trip, so "My Bad"...that is what the cool kids say right?

I meet with the body shop team this afternoon. To make sure we are on the same page with final paint. The full paint should be finished this month. Here are a few pictures of the progress as of today.

Ok so dvrs side of the Bronco is back together, at least the new ball joints and steering knuckle are together and it is finial install on the axle. I used the MevoTech TTX (for upper and lower) and they are all torqued down by the book.

Since I am having to use a different passenger side knuckle....thankfully I found a spare on the shelf. But I have to get the old ball joints out of that one 1st, and I believe they are the originals. I am letting it soak for a few days with some Sea Foam Deep Creep hopefully getting in there.

Because they did not want to budge with my initial removal attempt.
