    Tie rod flip

Ruff stuff sells them but right now that might be an issue. James mentioned another source in the other thread. I think there is another vendor similar to ruff stuff that sells them?? Back in the early 90s I had them custom machined. You have options, hopefully someone else will add more

Mid 2020s what are we using for an ignition system these days with a carb??

This is my plan for a C60 grain truck with a 427 tall block. I wish the trans parts were this cheap and easy. Qjet to further eliminate the governor. Spent some time at the bone yard a couple weeks ago looking for tfi module. Found the coil, to slow on the module. Correct grease should be...

Distributor Self Destructed - Need some guidance

GM hei of the past put the mechanical advance above the pickup/reluctor. The rotor mounts to the advance arms then screwed/bolted down, not a slip fit.

Question On Putting Rubber Floor In

Been using shell casing for leather work and gasket holes for longer than I should say. They work very well. I keep a selection of different caliber brass in my leather working box and mechanical tool box. Stretched and or damaged brass or you can get a decent selection at your local range, if...

Vented/perforated inner fenders and cooling (real world examples)

To put the need for stand offs in prospective, sheets of metal roofing has been used by crews to get close enough to throw charges to put out oil rig fires. An air gap between the metal and the workers has proven to be effective in the past. Common for small sheet of roofing being used as...

Who's bringing the smoke this year to Carlisle?

You would back off your rear brakes first. Only fronts working. You can do line locks though you have much more control with a brake pedal, especially if things start to go wrong. Modulating the front brakes can keep you moving forward while creating smoke. Clearly not the case here. Also...

Explorer compressor with vintage A/C oil capacity?

How much Freon have you put in?? Have you put a thermometer in the outlet ducts? Ambient and duct temps matter. Have you tested the temps of the lines? An IR gun works. I would check in multiple locations. If you have a restriction there should be a temp differential. Before testing be...

    Engine Install, Crankshaft Won't Turn

This is the money shot. Be sure to pull out and check the backside. You can set it down on the torque converter and turn, AFTER you add a little oil to the area the pump rides on. As mentioned check the fly wheel and give everything else a real close look.

How far over is too far over?

It depends. As all ready mentioned, to many variables. Most people have never come close to tipping while thinking it was over for them. On a recent trip we had 2 rock crawling novice drivers. Both had driven various terrain, just nothing extreme. The first day going in on the Hole in the...

Won't Idle, Carb, Possible Timing, and Definite Can of Worms Issues

Only fuel that should be getting thru at IDLE is below the throttle plates anything above is not being metered through the idle circuit. Google carb circuits. Currently you don't care about anything other than the idle circuit. Until you get this problem resolved you will never get the idle...
