1970 Build - For the Next Gen

We scratched the windshield frame during the body installation so I broke the paint gun back out and repaired that. All of the under hood work is complete and the hood is back on. The brake master cylinder has a bad push rod seal so we could only get minimal brakes and I had to order a...

1970 Build - For the Next Gen

Engine Running Again The last three weekends have pretty much been non-stop assembly. I was struggling with some of the dash wiring so I moved to the lights and emblems then came back to the dash. We painted the steering column and got it back in place. I finally got to twist the key and...

Are new bottom glass bumper brackets available?

Thank you. I couldn't find that for anything.

Are new bottom glass bumper brackets available?

I started putting the doors on my project back together and I can't find the metal angle brackets that hold the bottom glass bumper and the bottom of the front window track in place. I'm at a standstill without them and I can't find them on the vendor sites. Does anyone know if replacements...

1970 Build - For the Next Gen

We have worked on some of the little things that needed finished. I ran new transmission cooler lines a couple of weeks ago. The fuel pump was replaced and the fuel gauge was calibrated to the sending unit. The wiring was completed and a second VSS was installed to support the electronic...

    Scott Drake: Your take?

I just suffered through their ingition switch and bezel that sticks in the start position. After searching the forums it looks like it's a universal issue for the Bronco and Mustang obsessed. I tried to contact SD customer service. So far they are just ignoring me. I'm not overly impressed.

New ignition Switch and Bezel Sticks in Start Position - Solution Found

One more thought I had about this today is that the spring pressure may not necessarily be the problem. When the spring is screwed into place on the switch it sits flat and square. The other end of the spring does not push flat against the spacer cup. I suppose it is possible that the uneven...

New ignition Switch and Bezel Sticks in Start Position - Solution Found

I cleaned all of the grease out of the switch with brake cleaner. There was no change from that but it was worth a try. I spent some time sanding the ridge on the back of the lock cylinder created by the stainless cover and on the matching face of the bezel. This did result in the switch...

New ignition Switch and Bezel Sticks in Start Position - Solution Found

So you had a new switch and tumbler with caked up lube? This one has very little grease inside and it is clean. We haven't added any graphite or anything else.

New ignition Switch and Bezel Sticks in Start Position - Solution Found

The switch is a replacement that I bought at AutoZone or NAPA. I've had the tumbler and matched door lock set in a box for a for a few years. i got it from Jeff's but I do think it is a Scott Drake set.

New ignition Switch and Bezel Sticks in Start Position - Solution Found

I know I have read about this problem on this forum before but i can't seem to formulate a search that comes up with the solution, so I will just ask again. I've been trying to install a new ignition switch, lock tumbler and bezel in our project truck. I have sanded every face imaginable...

    new brakes no better

I had a set of front brakes that I fought for years. My problem was a collapsing flex line at one of the calipers. I assume you have new lines at your new caipers but the center flex line could be delaminating inside and blocking pressure. Did you replace the flex line to the diff?

    Summit Aluminum Rad

I have one on my 351. I don't remember which one I have but I didn't need to make any mods to the radiator to make it work and all of my cooling problem disappeared. I've had it for years and it seems like I only had to modify the lower mounts slightly to make it fit.

Is a +5V Square Wave VSS Safe for an EEC-IV?

I have run both of these without the VSS signal and with. The stumble is actually worse for the auto, which is an E4OD. The manual has issues coming to stops without the signal but otherwise runs well. I suppose I could compensate by simply adjusting the idle up manually but I don't know why...

    6.2/6sp/transfer case..............

I run a ZF5 with a 203/D20 doubler and it's really long. With a high enough quality driveline you can run a really short rear shaft but the pictures of that drivetrain look a lot longer than what I have. Will a NP205 bolt in place of that Tcase? I don't have any feel for the length of the...

Is a +5V Square Wave VSS Safe for an EEC-IV?

Thanks for the responses. I think I will try to measure the VSS output voltage this weekend. As long as I see something in the 5V or more range I'll just hook it up and try it. The worst that could happen would be that I would have to put up with the stalling issue until I got home and...

Is a +5V Square Wave VSS Safe for an EEC-IV?

I hear this from a lot of people but both of my EFI Broncos have pretty significant stall problems without it. It's irritating enough that I don't like driving them without the VSS hooked up. The one with the ZF is managable with some throttle feathering but the automatic just plain drives...

Is a +5V Square Wave VSS Safe for an EEC-IV?

I read my original post and I should be a little more clear about the current situation. The Ford VSS (sine wave) will drive the Autometer speedometer if it is not connected to the EEC. When it is connected to the computer and the speedometer at the same time, the computer absorbs enough of...

Is a +5V Square Wave VSS Safe for an EEC-IV?

I'm working through the problems associated with connecting an electric Autometer speedometer to my stock VSS with my EFI. I successfully proved that the signal is too weak if you split the same VSS to both and was finally able to nest two Ford VSS in series on my D20 after hacking the second...

What's it worth hard top, I know beat to death question sorry

I think it depends a lot on where you live. I'm close to Salt Lake City and I have bought multiple hard tops without any rust at all for $200 - $300 there. For me, a $600 hard top would have to be completely refurbished, including paint and new seals. I suppose the more corrosive environment...
