    Efi mustang gt trailrig

From a safety standpoint having the fuel tank inside the rig isn't a good idea, especially on a trail rig. You can run with the stock tank, just run an external pump and keep it as close as possible to the tank. Make sure the fuel pickup is pointed to the bend at the bottom of the tank, so...

    Considering Bronco

I agree that buying a complete, or nearly complete one is a lot cheaper, what I've seen over 15 years of watching is that a good 90% of the $15 to $30K rigs, include a really nice paint job to cover the bondo and rust. The fresher the paint, the more I would look for hidden rust. Don't spend...

    Optima

Yeah, I wouldn't count on Optima Jim responding to any questions. He's posted 3 times in 2 years, all the same MO. " here is a bunch of info about why you guys don't know" and then he doesn't come back for several months. Tom

    Towing Capacity

http://www.jaysweb.net/bronco/manuals/73ownersmanual/73man-51.JPG Per the 73 owners manual they were rated at 2000 lbs. The 76/77s have better brakes and better rear axle so they might go to 2500. Any lift or other modification probably lowers the overall rating. Tom

    4r70w and Long Tube Headers

I had the Duff long tube headers. Clearence was pretty tight on the passenger side. See the tech article on here for a better idea. I was running a 5.0, I believe the pics are of a 351, which is about 1 inch taller. Tom

Who is running H-4 Halogen headlights?

I was using Hella lenses with 55/100 bulbs. The harness was a summit racing harness. The first high beam relay died ( looked like corrosion coupled with high amp load killed it). The replacement relay I bought worked fine. I really liked the setup. The harness was smaller guage than some...

    C4 Temps

My preferred method is running the fluid through the aux trans cooller first then back into the radiator internal cooler. This reduces the load on the radiator, but helps warm up the trans if you live in a cold climate. Tom

Looking for a good "how to" or tech article for a swap

If you use the Mustang stuff on the Exploder motor, you will have a good set up and there are lots of people that can support you. I've done the 4R with the baumanator controller. Lots of support there too. You will love driving that setup. Tom

    5.0 Efi conversion w/AOD

Options 1) with a standard 3 row ( 2.25 inch) EB radiator it can be made to fit tightly with a proper fan and spacer 2) Cut the core support and move the radiator forward ( you can get about an inch to 1 1/4 inches this way) 3) Use Exploder serp setup. 4) Build something using a different...

Anyone running Bilstein 5100 series shocks w/ a 3.5" lift

If you want max travel then you need to run the short body 7100s with custom front mounts. I don't believe that the 360/80s are available in the 5100s. Tom

Stupid question of the day, does wheel size matter?

First, Tires made for 15 inch rims tend to be a lot cheaper than the same tires in 16 or 17 inch rims. 2nd, Smaller rims are better protected from damage because they are farther away from the rocks and the tires tend to stick out from the rim a bit more 3rd In order to get good floatation you...

    1965 Bronco?

My Uncle, who bought a 65 mustang in 1965, says he looked at a Bronco next to it in the show room. It would be nice to know the vin number. Tom

    Surprised/depressed after flare installation.....

Yeah, its a bummer when what you expect and what you get are two different things. There are a lot of things on these rigs that can be done more than one way. Its part of why I ended up doing things on my rig myself. Tom

That is how they are supposed to be installed. The shop did it correctly. Tom

Convert early dana 44 drum or put in 77 dana with disc

Personally, I would lean towards converting the old 44. The 77 will require a 77 steering setup, including a 77 pitman arm. The steering arm can interfere with some rims if the back spacing isn't right, so you end up using spacers. I like the design of the chevy discs better than the ford...

Best Automatic Conversion for a Daily Driver?

For local driving on stockish tires/gears the C4 is cheap and easy. Beyond that I recommend the 4r70w. Overdrive automatic, with electronic controls that are tuneable to personal preference. Tom

    ROLL CAGEs and Child Seats?

I would advise against building a cage specific to child seats. damn kids grow fast and before you know it they won't fit. In the end, a good set of tiedown points for the car seat will be just as safe. I installed a colt vista fold and tumble seat, and a set of non-retractable lap belts...
