My preferred method is running the fluid through the aux trans cooller first then back into the radiator internal cooler. This reduces the load on the radiator, but helps warm up the trans if you live in a cold climate. Tom

Personally, I would lean towards converting the old 44. The 77 will require a 77 steering setup, including a 77 pitman arm. The steering arm can interfere with some rims if the back spacing isn't right, so you end up using spacers. I like the design of the chevy discs better than the ford...

For local driving on stockish tires/gears the C4 is cheap and easy. Beyond that I recommend the 4r70w. Overdrive automatic, with electronic controls that are tuneable to personal preference. Tom
