    my '74 Build Thread--408W/C4/Atlas 2 3.0/35 Spline Rear

It's definitely a building process... I'm 17 years in and about 1/2 way there! :) EFIGuy hooked me up with the computer and harness for my 351 and it was a screamer right out of the box. No more offcamber stumbles or bogs. Highly recommended. Have fun out there this weekend. Weather looks like...

    Need some Dana 20 advice

I blew up 3 Dana20s before I gave up and went 205. The low range spur gears are just too wimpy to handle the horse power. Had teeth come off then get caught in the meshed gears leading to a very large boom followed by the smell of hot gear oil. Also chew up the bushing on the idler gear shaft...

Swapping a C4 for an AOD Issues ?

I would go 4R over the aod. I got rid of my C4/Dana 20 because I kept breaking the 20s. Didn't want to buy an Atlas so 4R/205 it is... Had to build a custom cross member and shorten the rear drive shaft. Already had the edis fuel injection so just had to turn on the trans programming. Glad I...

Explorer Serpentine Upgrade Kit. What else do I need?

No, you shouldn't have to. Take a look at the pieces included in the timing cover set... http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,1998,explorer,5.0l+v8,1304435,engine,timing+cover+gasket+set,5484 Cork gasket ends for between the cover and the oil pan. trim away the old ones and permatex in the...

Auto meter Transmission temp gauge install

I also have the Autometer trans temp gauge. I used 2 senders (coming out of trans before cooler and after cooler goingback in). Hooked the sender wires up to a toggle switch that then goes to the gauge. you can buy extra senders at Summit if so inclined... The install is straight forward and as...

Heat torture cooling system test... Exploder mech vrs Tauras electric fans...

The 5.0 Explorers had both steel and plastic fans. From my recollection, the 96-98 (ish) had the steel fans. Later ones plastic. I'm guessing cost and weight were the reasons for the change...

Where do you mount your relays?

I've got 3 boxes in my Bronco. Eaton makes a combo fuse box & relay box. Put one under dash on passenger side where the fresh air intake used to be. Other 2 are directly behind the battery on a custom bracket...
