Thinking 1 tons, Narrow 8 lug rears and weld on c's?

twotwentyswift, The quote is under the link. I offered up the link for proof of what these two top name teams were using. I'd say stock to stock the D60 is stronger, which is somewhat arguable depending on which stock assemblies are being compared. I know fully built to fully built the 9inch...

Thinking 1 tons, Narrow 8 lug rears and weld on c's?

Here's a quote from a winning comp team that has run both. http://www.spidertrax.com/s.nl;jsessionid=ac112b1b1f43ec0f062a027e4c10b828a6b3a154b6a9.e3eTaxmKbNaNe34Pa38Ta38Lahn0?sc=2&category=961 "I would just like to say that we have been using the Hi9's front and rear in our competition truck...

Thinking 1 tons, Narrow 8 lug rears and weld on c's?

I just skimmed over this thread and have a few points to make. 1. Maybe the 9 inch Ford has smaller pinion bearings closer together BECAUSE of the 3rd bearing. In other words "Which came first the chicken or the egg? 2. The bigger ring gear is only a legitimate comparison if the vertical...

Switching out 44/9 for 60s. PLEASE give some input on 44/9 value

Some guys have had pretty good luck with the after market 31 spline axles. Maybe try the adapters on the rear and just do the front. Then if you start breaking rear axles you could just switch to 35 spline later. Just a thought. Looks like you've got a pretty healty motor. ARRRRRR.

Switching out 44/9 for 60s. PLEASE give some input on 44/9 value

I am Weivoda Auto and developed the truehi9. I lived in Fargo when I registered which is on the border of Moorhead MN, which is connected to Dilworth, MN. We are machining the Hi9 cases ourselves now so the machine stays set up for the cases. Sometimes if we run out of 35 spline cases we just...

Switching out 44/9 for 60s. PLEASE give some input on 44/9 value

Ahh. I figured maybe you wanted to go 35 spline. If that was the case we could've rebored your exsisting case for ya, free. :)

    More questions on gear pattern

It seems funny that the .015 and .020 basicly look the same. That being said I'd say your about right with a .018. You could try a .010 though and see if it gets better. My bet would be that either the gears or gear case are not quite machined correctly and that is the best you'll get. I just...

OK. I'll try to keep an eye out for it.

    More questions on gear pattern

Try .015, show us that and the .020 again but both sides of the tooth. By moving the pinion in, less shim, the pattern moves deeper towards where the tooth is connected to the ring. By adding shim the pattern moves more toward the tip of the tooth. The object is to put the pattern in the...

    Another gear pattern opinion request

I'd try .005 pinion shim each way, take pics, and show us again. Keep the backlash between .007 and .010. Some gear ratios you can just pull the pinion support and pinion assy. without touching the ring gear making changing pinion shims very fast and easy. This method can be done on all ratios...

    Another gear pattern opinion request

What brand of gears are those? Try going .005 each direction with pinion shim and take some pics with each result.

    9" Third Member Removal

Yes, but as soon as you get home blow it dry and take a oil can to ALL the bearings. When you put it back together put a small amount of silicone around each stud where they come out of the housing and leave those washers off.

    9" Third Member Removal

From the factory there are copper washers on the studs that are usually squished into the threads of the studs. You usually have to remove them one at a time with a chisel or something.
