Took the bronco out today, a guy on a motorcycle stopped me in the parking lot, I was stabbed twice and lost about a pint of blood. Now the whole story in order....... Drove the bronco over to the blood bank and donated, walked over to the CVS and got my flu shot. When leaving I was stopped by a guy on an old Harley who wanted to look at my bronco. I don't know much about Harley's, but it was awesome. 48 panhead almost all original he told me. Was so interested in the guys stories and bike, didn't even think to take a picture. Love taking the bronco out!

As they say, built not bought.

So that locking latch is an original latch, 3/4" hole drilled in handle, made slice in back of housing with cut off disk, tried in a cam lock from online, 7/8" long, then sent parts out to be powder coated, (not the cam lock, it came black).

Reassembled and forgot to put in the tailgate gasket, UGH! Glad you guys like it. I bought a stainless steel locking tail gate latch but did not like the finish nor shine. Kinda pitted. So I went with this.

Let me know if you need more pics. Make sure you center the cam lock so that the retaining ring will seat all the way down against the handle. I may epoxy glue it to the handle.
 Forrest

that's a killer mod, would love to see more closeup pix of how that cam fit in there

Removed my p/s box...again... to be able to figure out why, exactily where and what caused me to loose all my p/s out on the trail on my last off road outing. P/S loss was immediately followed by a fluid dump out the front area. NOT a input, output or top cap seal for sure.

Once I got it off I discovered a cracked end cap...cracked from the inside. So now to figure out what caused that to happen. Remedy that, source another cap or get ready to add this one below and go that new direction.

They sale a 3" one. https://diy4x.com/product.php?productid=17691&page=1

Followed by https://diy4x.com/product.php?productid=17848&page=1

And then maybe https://diy4x.com/product.php?productid=17867&cat=249&page=1

Doing research I found the last pic worth of info and maybe a good mod?

Yes I would like to see more pictures Billie

Very clever.

Big difference I'm assuming...

Looks good man

ditto......

Yeah right, that is pretty cool.

We have them in stainless (https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/produ...Tailgate-Release-Handle/Bronco_Tailgate_Parts) but not sure if we have black ones and I just haven't seen them yet, or if he got his from somewhere else.

Paul

Here's all the pics in one place. This mod was what I did after I purchased a stainless steel tailgate latch from my favorite vendor, but was unhappy with the finish as it was pitted. Not the vendor's fault. I decided to see if I could make my original latch lockable, and bought an online cam lock that came with a black finish. You need to drill the hole exactly in the center of the handle, or the retaining lock ring will not sit flat. My cam lock was 7/8" long (3/4" diameter), and I bent the tab to fit my crude cut in the housing. I trial fit everything, then took apart and sent to powder coater. The only thing I will be adding is a little epoxy to the retaining ring on the cam lock. Hope this give you a better idea how to do it yourself.

1 Ton steering upgrade. Bought the kit from 350hertz awhile back and just got around to it... like the rest of the project. Stand up guy, even let me borrow the reamer to do the job.

After looking at the angle of the drag link / steering arm in relation to the trac-bar bar I decided to stick with the Tie rod under the knuckle. Stock EB drum knuckles and a Kiser Riser on the diff make it pretty close.
