I haven’t seen this information anywhere yet and figured I would share it before I change it out. 1973 with no body lift and a 351 Windsor with the truck intake. Hopefully these photos will help someone out.

Update: I installed the BC Bronco adaptor, the mustang upper intake with an explorer throttle body. As you can see, it is much lower but still will not clear a stock hood without a body lift or a scoop.

I think 351s are a good idea. Trying to do it with EFI, not so much. My 351 with a carburetor has worked great for over 30 yrs. It fits under the stock hood with no lifts of any kind and is as reliable as the many EFI cars I've owned during that time. The carburetor related problems I read about, are the result of a lack of knowledge.

I'm starting to think the same way. Or I've always thought that way but started to waiver. I've been collecting the parts to make my next 351w efi. The more threads I read about guy trying to get it dialed in has me more likely to stay with the carb. Since going q-jet it has never let me down.

If you can find a lightning lower, that would be the way to go. Get a harness and computer programming from EFI Guy and mine ran great right out of the box. Took me about a year of searching on craigslist, but finally found a good deal.

Yea, I'm not sure why they all loaded upside down, lol. I looked for quite some time for a lightning lower and only found a few, they were all ridiculously priced which resulted in my choice of the BC adapter.

You just have to search....I got mine for $350 shipped.........Deals are out there....you just got to expand the search and look everyday. Forget eBay. FB market place and craigslist are the way to go.

That said....a 1 inch BL is not needed for the W swap but it sure makes things easier to work on and IMO the BL looks great on a Bronco.

The issue you have how might be the stock body bushings are "pancaked". My 1 inch BL was more like 1.5 to 2 inches because the old bushings were JUNK....

Give them a look and see....The combo you have is "supposed" to fit

Thanks Tim, I will check the body bushings once I'm done getting the engine compartment like I want it.

The carb related problems I had were due to severity of the trails I tackle. I managed to put Holley EFI on a 400 in my '69..with 2" of body lift and the Duff hood bubble. ;)

The 400 is even taller than the 351w.

Going to disagree with you there, found one of the cast iron manifolds for about $350 on eBay a few months ago and another for under $400, there are good deals a lot of places, if you have the patience to let the not so good deals pass on by instead of jumping on the first one you see.

I stand corrected.....Glad you found a deal.....I've never seen one on eBay for a reasonable price. I've seen great deals on FBMP.....

Mine is the cast iron marine version too.

That is not the one I bought, I found that one for someone else - who it turned out had already bought another one for about $100 more.

I bought mine off Craigslist.

I never do Facebook, so will never find anything on there.

Update: The body bushings were junk, so I replaced them with a set from James Duff. They got me real close but it looks like I still need another inch to clear everything.

I agree to a point. I ran my qjet for 26 years after ditching my Holley ProJection in '95. Qjet was flawless for me on any trail that I ran including Moab, Con, etc. I go on a bit more extreme trails the past 10 years and the deciding factor for me switching to SEFI was my stroker motors.

I spent 2 years trying to meet the fuel demands of a qjet when the float level was lowered to make it work "perfect" with the demands of fuel needed to support 600 HP. Couldn't do it. Gave up coming up with a simple reliable reasonable cost variable pressure fuel pump or regulator of some kind to allow me to crawl off camber like a qjet will allow you to do and the fuel demands of WOT to support 600 hp.

I gave up and went SEFI and EDIS. Great setup ask Garry. #ditchthedizzy ...
