Yeah, I'm actually thinking of hiring out the bed grafting and toolbox mounting. I'm not sure of the last time I ever did that...

I'm going to mount alarms in the boxes so if/when I have to park "Bertha" (just came up with that- not sure it will stick as I don't have a moniker for any our vehicles except "Shorty"- but she will remotely let me know if she's being "inspected" by someone other than me cause she will carry some tools.

Rigging up a “simply safe” type unit with its own cell service would not be difficult.

TS is right about hiring some stuff out, it just gets it done, for some things it just makes sense.

I might start another thread on that...

I used a motion sensor for bears on the Con. :)

We got that alarm singing the first night and saw tracks the next morning. But that was it. It worked tho.
I will probably go with motion alarm and something that shoots to my cellphone when I'm in cellphone reception area which isn't as common as most would think..

Back to EB's. I made the mistake of shutting off my battery to work on my worn out ignition switch that I never could disconnect from the dash the other night and my computer "un-learned" itself. What a pita. I obviously need some kind of constant 12v source to the main pwr connection of my ECU after my power leaves my battery and goes to my 500 amp marine on/off switch.

I am going to call Holley to see if the Term X does this also. Hopefully a learned tune can be saved somehow on it.

For 2 reasons:

1- so when the power is OFF it is off to everything on my rig. Not just 99% of it.

2- so after 2 months of driving and it's finally learned enough to not have issues letting off the skinny pedal and rapidly stepping back on it (like coming up to a corner on a County road, coasting lightly around it then stepping on the skinny pedal again the afr won't spike at 17:1 then shudder when you step on the gas again.

Hopefully a learned tune after a couple months of driving will be able to be saved and you can download it as a true "final tune".
UPDATE on the tune. As the TermX learns it is continually saved into memory so no more swapping batteries or pulling power to be careful when working behind the dash and no more loosing your tune.

Was running decent but now that it lost 12V constant I'm hoping it will relearn again... :(

I had a battery kill switch in the Valiant for those times when I had to park it somewhere a little sketch. So that any memory(s) would stay good while the battery was turned off I had one of the Marine Inline Fuse Holders wired in parallel with the switch. I put a 1.5A fuse in it. Something sure to blow should there be an attempt to hot-wire and start it, or any other tomfoolery (I'm gonna call it that instead of stupidity on my part). It won't help if the goal is to keep the battery from drawing down during a long period of no operation.

I like the in parallel idea with the low amp fuse. I've already forgotten a half dozen times when I've switched my marine cutoff and then came back to the rig, reached over and tried to start it!! :) I'd need a CB so I could push the reset button, then flip the main switch!! lol

I still want ZERO power when the main kill switch is off so I don't fry my ECU when pulling my Qtrhorse, stuff like that...
I'll check Holley's website and forum tonight or tomorrow. Slow day tomorrow 'cause I can't proceed any farther on my next project.

Got it all lined up, ran bolts in finger tight, obviously more to do but the chain length is off. Distance needed to make it connect is a 1/2 link but ya can't run 1/2 links in chains on a 450SX-F. Not enough adjustment in the tensioner if I put two links in. Dang, now I've gotta start swapping (buying) different sprockets and not mess gear ratios up too much. :(

KISS method isn't working here!

is there any updates to the current offerings of 6r80 adapters/packages for SBF since your great write up?
Is the stock column shifter hard to get working (among the clearancing and other issues you highlighted)

I have a drawing of the final update done for the adapter which is almost identical to what Performance Adapters is now making-just did not have time with family health issues to even think about it. I am still not into it but I would recommend their adapter at this time. I have not installed or used it but have talked with the owner and it looks and sounds good since it's identical to what I drew up to make it compact and not have to deal with converter mod's since very few companies make converters or mod's to existing ones thanks to Fords design.

I am quite sure that making a new shift rod would not be difficult so you could use the stock column shift.

Feb 14, 2024 is start date by taking my Bronco off the road again :(

OK- been running good since 52 data logs and 18 new EFI tables that I downloaded last July/Aug from my tuner after the HUGE Ford Performance screw up so it's time to tear my rig down and update... :)

Going with Terminator X, 4150 style throttle body with adj throttle valves, cam sync (no dizzy), 36-1 crank, etc. I will replace the Moates Qtrhorse and all my EDIS ignition stuff. A LOT of stuff to remove and re-do. Not too excited but I am. Should be able to use most of my sensors and just repin them to connect to the 937 style harness. This allows me to cut some wires and not have as many loops as I have now under my dash (how did it get so MESSY looking in 20 short years!!!??? lol

I will level out my cowl on the pass side under the hood so underneath the new area I make, I can install the TermX ECU and have easy access from under the hood. It has got to be very weather resistant and EASY to access.

Ordered my TermX 558-937 today which is their MPFI wiring, Universal kit.

Ordered the Holley ??? 112 which is a 4150 flange style throttle body, ordered a variable throttle plate kit also which allows me to dial % opening of secondaries to the amount that the primaries are already open. Like Pri open 10% and Sec not open, Pri open 40% and sec now open 20% (examples)

Ordered LS friendly coil pack wiring

Ordered more LS friendly sub wiring which allows the LS coil pack wiring to plug in directly to the main #3937 harness

The TPS, IAC and ??? are integrated into the throttle body (nice- hope they are removeable if they need replacing down the road)

More later, hoping to learn a ton of new stuff- for me that's the exciting part, can't wait!

Pics (and lots of questions) will be coming. :)

Am I really doing this after 11months of hounding and fighting Ford Performance from Sept 22 till June of 23?
I did call Holley and ask if learning is saved while it's actually being used so if the battery is disconnected your ECU doens't have to "learn" all over again. That's nice.

Yup, here goes.

Guess I get to pick the ls coil shape and color I like. lols

I don't know if I want them on the valve covers or not. I kinda like the "hidden" coils that I have now but ... With the oil fill and PCV holes in the valve covers it might make packaging a bit tougher. Don't want too much clutter...

Will see

... and when it's all back together and up and running you'll have as much fun as I do!! All our Broncos are just a ton of fun! :)

Gonna tag some bolt bosses onto the rockers so that you can use the LS sparklely plug cables with those LS coils?

I’m just afraid if I get it done up TOO well and have too much fun my wife is gonna commandeer it and I’ll have to start over again. 🤪

I like the LS plug boot insulators if you have room for them, I’ve had no issues with burnt wires with them. Let’s you run inexpensive off the shelf plug wires.
