4R70W question

I have a shifting issue with my 4R that started roughly a year ago.
If I shift from park or neutral into drive, the truck will start off normally in 1st gear but will not shift into 2nd. I can drop the gear selector into 2nd and it shifts normally. Coming to a stop and then driving, the trans shifts normally. Something about going into drive from the left (park or neutral) seems to be causing the issue. Anybody have thoughts on what to look at or go after? All opinions are welcome. :)

No, but I'm interested in what others say since I have a 4R70 as well.

Good luck. Sounds kind of annoying!

What are you using to control the transmission? Stand alone? Explorer?

Without looking at the data it is hard to guess. Something hanging up in the valve body? But my bigger guess is MLP sensor a touch off, has some play in it. Dropping into drive it doesn't go all the way and the computer sees 1st gear but coming up it sees drive. This is one of those where you have to see the data to know what the computer is seeing. It's really hard to guess where the command to hold first gear is coming from. Hydraulic? Input to the computer? Computer programming? Computer hardware? Output not responding?

I am running the Explorer E.D.I.S. fuel injection on a 351W that EFIGuy set up. So would plugging an OBDII dongle in get some of those questions answered?
