If you want to use that shop and you're paying them to work on your rig, then tell them what you want. Do you have any input on the rest of the build? Why wouldn't you be able to tell them what powertrain you want?

Carbs are SOOOO simple. :)

You are still looking at HP numbers. HP is what sells cars, torque is what moves them.

Sounds like you found a production shop that builds stuff that the shop wants to build and puts on the candy of what the buyer wants. I've seen that with other shops that turn out a lot of volume. If they are cranking out 100 vehicles a year, they have there formula and that is what they stick with. If you don't fit there formula, there is another waiting in line, the shop doesn't have to care as they are in the production stage.

Thanks for all the responses. I only stopped to get their opinion, not to do the work. I will do the swap myself. I've even been giving serious consideration to a Godzilla due to the thread on that topic.

408 v Godzilla

Blueprint vs Dart Block

Carb vs EFI

I did the LS swap in my 72 corvette and I had no clue or experience, just determination & patients ($ too). I gutted the car and it took 2 years to finish. I finished it about 10 years ago. It was one of the first of its kind.

Lots to decide. Thanks for all the help!

If you're main driving is around town and family cruises, the 347 will be just fine.

I don't know how far you are into the actual work to be done vs. just planning.
But I am seeing a lot more support for the Godzilla. The bugs are getting ironed out. In another year or so I would expect to see a fairly solid list of dos and don't from people who have actually got one in AND RUNNING.

I'd plan in the back of my head a Godzilla + 6R80 combo being a pretty sweet package.

I have a 408 with a fairly big cam (this cam barely idles in a 302 and is lumpy in the 408), Ford-based EFI, and 205cc heads, and it is an absolute torque monster right off idle. Oh and it idles at 775 rpm just like Brian’s 460. You can’t go wrong with a 408.
