Does anyone know if this has a one or two piece RMS? Can a two piece be used so I don't have to drop the tranny? Thanks!

It's wet down there on the motor plate for sure and I was burning through oil over the winter. I had a leak at the valve covers so I just replaced those gaskets.. but now I'm replacing the harmonic balancer and the woodruff key was chewed in there so I need to remove the timing cover.. since I'm dropping the oil pan I was gonna knock out the RMS if I needed to. Classic might as well do this while I'm at it scenario!

Hopefully the valve covers were the culprit..

The motor is about 6 or 7 years old.. maybe a bit older. I bought it in 2021 and it had about 1700 miles on it. It now has about 33k.

I vote rear china rail leak as well. They really look like a rear main from the drips on the ground.

Is the 306 rear main like the Foxbody one piece and needs the tranny pulled to get to it?

I would expect that. It depends on what block they used. It looks like they use late model roller blocks, when doing reman blocks instead of there now available in house block. The one piece rear main came a couple years before the roller block. So if it is a roller block, it is a 1-piece rear main. Do it either engine out or transmission out. I prefer engine out, lot easier to inspect every corner of the engine (china rail, valve covers, oil pan) for leaks. Labor wise it might be slightly more work, but I feel it results in a better job in the end. Unless you are trying to beat flat rate and hope you don't get a come back.
