Should have PCV at the back of the lower intake connected to upper manifold vacuum and a hose from the valve cover (generally oil filler tube) to top of throttle body.

Yes. And no other openings for unmetered air to get into the valve covers.

I have the valve cover to throttle body vacuum and nothing else except vacuum line to PB booster. Should I run to parts store and get a pcv and some hose?

Yes. The PCV valve needs to go in the rear of the 5.0 lower intake. The hose connects to manifold vacuum.

More Issues

OK, went to start it yesterday, no dice, no spark. pulled spout connector and it starts right up, but not running that well. Any ideas?

Wiring between TFI and EEC or bad TFI? (can you tell I'm guessing...?)

If the TFI doesn't see pulses coming back from the EEC, it will fire the coil using the pulses from the pickup. That's how you set base timing. Pull the SPOUT, the EEC doesn't see pulses from the distributor, so doesn't send any back to the TFI. So the TFI fires off of the pickup in the distributor.

So it seems there are pulses coming back from the EEC, but the TFI isn't firing the coil based on them.

OK, so now I'm leaning more towards TFI...

Will not start with spout plugged in.
Yeah, probably should have finished that thought...

So, since it runs with the SPOUT unplugged, but not with it plugged in, then it must be seeing a difference, and that difference should be whether there are pulses coming back from the EEC. As mentioned, if the TFI see pulses coming back from the EEC it will fire the coil based on those pulses. But if there are no pulses coming back from the EEC then it fires the coil based on the pulses directly from the distributor pickup (base timing).

So the part of the circuit in the TFI that recognizes pulses coming back from the EEC must be working, but something is damaged between there and the circuit that fires the coil.

Just as a test, install the SPOUT connector, and remove the #1 wire (PIP) from the TFI and see if it runs. The PIP ( I think) is the pulses coming from the EEC. If the TFI doesn't see these pulses it should fire the coil at the base timing (pulses directly from distributor pickup.)

That difference has to be in the TFI.

(Just noticed this is post 6000 for me.)

Test the SPOUT wire to see if it's grounded on the ECM side. If not its probably a TFI problem.

KOEO gave 34 and the normal 80's stuff. KOER gave me 4 flashes then nothing.
I don't think KOER will run with the SPOUT unplugged.

Code 34 - PFE or EVP circuit above the closed limit of 0.67 volts.

It's complaining about the EGR valve position sensor.
