I'm w/Steve. Going to replace my fuel pump and add a heat shield to hopefully get more life out of this one (only gotten about 4 years out of the current one.)

Now I've just got to get my hands on a Bosch pump that'll do that job. They seem to be the go to for inline pumps (despite the fact that no one local seems to carry them.)

At that temperature you are boiling the lighter ends of the fuel, but if the pump is shutting off with power still applied then replacing it is the first step.

Years ago I noticed an EFI fuel tank ~2/3 full of fuel was hot to the touch on a hot day on the trail. Too hot to be explained solely by reflected heat. About 7 years ago I was under a friend's DuraMax and noticed that it had a cooler on the fuel return line back near the fuel tank (TransferFlow extra capacity tanks are notched around them). That seems like a good idea to me for desert service so I'm in the process of setting up an Exploder's PS fluid (I think) cooler in the Bronc-up's return line.

I can't seem to get a Bosch fuel pump locally (apparently they're not even orderable by the parts houses...) So I can either go to Amazon and get the 69100 or Autozone carries a Delphi pump w/a lifetime warranty that'd do the job. Does anyone have an opinion on the delphi? My concern w/Amazon is the return process should it be needed for another failed pump...

[soapbox]There has to be a REAL parts store in San Antonio that can get it. Chain stores like Vatozone, Schlep boys, O'reagan's, etc. only want to sell you what they have in stock because that is what they make the most profit on. As a bonus, finding an auto parts store that can get it can save you some headache, particularly once the counter folks get to recognizing you. The guys and gals who work behind the counter in real parts stores are much more knowledgeable than the typical low price chain store counter person. I only go to my local Vatozone as a last resort.[/soapbox]

Amazon, Summit, Pegasus Racing, and possibly Rock Auto would be where I'd look online.

You would think, wouldn't you? According to the Bosch vendor website, they only deal w/the big guys, no local shops...And I can't find a local place on my side of town (San Antonio, if anyone wants to make a recommendation.)

CarQuest?
Napa?
They're not all the same unless multiple stores owned by the same entity.

Nope...Well, Napa carries it, for an extra $50 and they don't price match.

How does Napa's price compare to these? Is the $50 worth your time trying to find a better price and then waiting for it to be delivered? It'd be worth the $50 difference to me if the Napa is knowledgeable and convenient. I see the difference as an investment in keeping good local businesses in business.

The 61944 p/n is what I'm finding across the various sites when I search "Bosch 044", not the 69100 p/n.

I guess reading through this I missed the need for the Bosch 44. The 69100 is OE for bronco and F150 from the late 80's.

Not a need, but that is the pump (044) that I thought was being looked for. Those usually are higher priced than the Ford OEM replacement pumps.
