fuel selector switch?

hello where can one find a diagram of the wireing for the switch on the dash? I replaced my rear sending unit with a new one from jeffs graveyard and even with it unplugged it shows a 1/2 tank and when I plug it back in it shows full? with only like 4 gals of gas in it. I believe the problem might be in the wireing on that switch? thanks

Then unplug the GAUGE wire from the switch. If the gauge stays the same, the fault is NOT in the switch or sender.

So if I do that and the gauge stays the same it the gauge ?
