gps tracking anti-theft device

According to our local Facebook city page, there has been a lot of truck/jeeps being stolen lately. Mostly being towed off. With the value of our EB's going up I have been scared to leave my Bronco anywhere that I can't keep an eye on it.

So other than the few small things you can do to keep your Broncos from getting stolen, has anyone invested in a GPS tracking device? If so what kind and how do you like it?

I am willing to pay a monthly subscription if necessary. For the piece of mind it would be worth it. I have nightmares about my Bronco being stolen.

Thank you.

The thieves figured out those too. That's why you dont hear the commercials anymore. I know they lose signal in underground parking structures.

This one works super good!

I have had the very same concerns.... I honestly had nightmares also...

The day I finished it and took it out in public, was the day I got this (below)... So many people take pics of it and video when I'm out and about...I had to protect my investment...

As a result I have this, hard wired in mine somewhere and can confirm its location and track it within a few feet of its real time location...on my phone or any computer... It has geo fencing...so when it is moved outside your prescribed fence...it will send you alerts on your phone...and track its movement...in real time...

I pull it up once and a while, just to check up on my baby... : )

This company has a very reasonable monthly fee that is well worth the peace of mind for me...

Not so much of an anti-theft device as a post-theft device.

At some point you just need to get an agreed coverage policy and just drive it. Take simple common sense steps and call that good enough. There is no point in owning it if you can't get out and enjoy it. If all you do is panic over the bad stuff that could happen you will miss out on the good stuff that should have happened.

Ive been looking into this for a while without any luck. If you want real time tracking you need a SIM card and a monthly subscription. Verizon wants $20/month for adding a device onto my cell account. Ha!

If you're that worried get good insurance. If they want it they're gonna get it. Best bet is a hidden fuel shut off and that kind of stuff. Alarms and electronic gadgets are worthless against any self respecting car thief. My 72 has a brakelock that locks all 4 calipers with the turn of a key.

While back there was a thread here about guys hard-wiring in an old cell phone and using one of the child tracking apps with it.

10 bucks a month for a tablet. You can enable a smart phone with no calling, data only and still have gps

But wouldn't be cool to have the phone auto answer so you could say "I see you and we're coming to get you!"

Must be a line lock, plumbed into all four instead of just the fronts.

The older F series trucks have been very popular in Mexico for years, and a lot of people down there are not too particular how they ended up there.

I wired a kill switch into my Jeep and will do same thing with my Bronco and get good insurance. If they want they will get it..and if they know what there doing GPS tracking isn't that hard to deal with.

They would have to know to look, and if you hide it well enough a cursory look will miss it.

I have a cheap GPS tracking device purchased from an online store. Just enter the gps tracker and you will receive a lot of results. I need to recharge my SIM card for £10 every 90 days, but a total of £40 a year is not bad, I think. I have already hid it very well.;D
