I am trying to get my hydroboost and 4x4x2 box to bleed but now when I just barely touch the steering wheel it takes on a mind of its own and the whole Bronco starts to shake violently. and the steering wheel would have broke my arm had I not let go of it. After studying the diagram I am sure I have routed the lines correctly. The main pressure line out of the pump went to the passanger side of the hydroboost then from the hydroboost to the 4x4x2 box. I have a dual return Saginaw pump so the return from the hydroboost went back to the pump. and the return from the steering box went to the cooler then back to the pump. does this routing sound correct?

I put the Bronco up on stands and locked the steering all the way to the left with the engine running. then started turning to the right and the steering wheel jumped out of hand so I shut the Bronco down. any suggestions on what I have done wrong?

Is your pressure line on the forward-most port of the box? The rear most is the return.

On the box the pressure line is hooked up to the port closest to the steering shaft.

Gotta reverse that. At least I'm 99% sure. Better wait for confirmation, but since your box is acting like the hoses are reversed, and they look like they're reversed, wait for someone to confirm that they smell and taste like they're reversed, and then you'll know!;D

On every power box I've looked at so far, the pressure side was always farthest away from the seal. That's what I use when in doubt. So far, so good.

Hope it's that simple

I have looked back over a few of these conversion threads and I agree my lines appear to need switched. Here is the thing that confused me I have 2 of the 4x4x2 boxes and both of the boxes I have are 3/8 for the input/pressure side. Nothing that getting a new fitting wont fix but it just seems odd to me that both my boxes have the hole sizes switched compared to the others that have been done.

Aren't those boxes using the same size ports for high and low pressure sides? I guess not, but I thought they were.
Since it uses the input section from a different box, perhaps different years Ford used a different size port setup? Don't know.
But the location seems consistent from what I've seen, no matter what the size.

In looking for a fitting I only found the correct size in aluminum. Are there any known issues with using aluminum fittings / connectors for this?

On the 4x4x2, the smaller fitting is the pressure port. The return on the 4x4x2 is the same size as the return on a stock EB box which is how I know the smaller port is pressure.

you may want to check the Hboost unit. you MAY have a stuck spool valve. if so, disassemble clean and reassemble usually fixes it. dirt influid sticks these valves

I got the lines switched today. It seems to have taken care of the problem. Now it is on to getting the system bled. Any tricks to make it bleed faster?

Faster? Hah! Surely you jest?
No, and don't call him Shirley!

Actually, most of the systems seem to bleed pretty well compared to a regular setup. Maybe it's the height or the way they're plumbed, but I don't remember too many complaints.
Best to let some or all of the pressure off the wheels though. Put 'em up on jacks to relieve some pressure and just turn the wheel lock to lock continually until it sounds and feels good. You might get it in just a few turns, or you might be like many of us and it could take a hundred!

Good luck though. Glad you got it fixed. Just be patient and hope for the best.

I removed my steering arm and worked the wheel lock to lock about fifty times without the engine running. I kept pumping the brakes the whole time. Once I started it I did the same thing while my buddy kept the reservoir topped off.

I put a piece of clear hose over the pumps filler neck so I could over fill it. It took a while to get all the air out.
