I think it will be an Americanized version of the Australian designed Ford Everest / Endeavour sold overseas. It may not be as off road capable as a Jeep Wrangler but still pretty good. See this article. http://www.wikinewsindia.com/english-news/zee-news/business/2015-ford-everestendeavour-first-drive/
And this https://www.ford.com.au/suv/everest
8.5L per 100 kilometers for the 4x4 diesel 5 cylinder works out to 27.6 MPG

Will they build a 2 door version with the top coming off? That's the big question.

Imagine it with the new high strength aluminum body like the F150. 30 MPG Bronco anyone?

2020 there will be a vehicle with a Bronco badge and 4 tires. It will be designed by engineers to sell to the mass market while complying with state and federal regulations. Good luck it being what we would really want. I'm not holding my breath or selling my Bronco.

Well of course.....

Expect something like what the eb would be today had it stayed in production. It would have evolved over time like everything else has. The best we can expect is some retro styling.

To think that we would get something like our eb's isn't practical or fair to Ford.

I have the best 4x4 this country ever produced.
I am ok with a grocery getter modern Bronco in fact I am looking forward to it.

For me I don't care what Ford produces but if they want to use the Bronco name it must do the exact same capabilities as a stock original but do it better.
Just like they have finally done with the Mustang.

Must have 4wd, 2 speed transfer case, limited slips available. Carry 4 people. Top must come off. 2 door. Short wheel base and ground clearance will be a big issue to overcome.

This is much harder to do than upgrading the Mustang. They can make a great vehicle with modern technology but making it as capable as the original will be almost impossible for them. The government controls just won't let them do it.

What I expect from Ford is something like if they took the Taurus and stuck Mustang emblems on it.

After all the old Mustang has only two doors and nobody buys cars with only two doors.

Oooooh and a "popular color" too %) I like it ;)

And as for the new one, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

And no, I'm not selling me EB.

And no, I'm not looking for a off-road monster (my 93 & 95 Broncos were heavy pigs)

And no, I don't even need a straight axle (my 93 and 95 Broncos were IFS)

Give me something like the concept or give me the modern equivalent or the last gen Broncos or hell, give me a 2 door Everest w/ removable top. I understand this is CLASSIC Broncos and we all love our EBs but do you think any Bronco made after 77 is not a Bronco?

I have to say I love them all for different reasons and the only one I have not owned yet is the square eye 80 to 86. I really dig 'em. Just have not had one yet.

Any and all of them have been great in many ways. Hopefully the newest one will have it's merits too!

I'll be a little more likely to believe it when we at least see a new concept. Hoping they can get us something more than a removable topped Ranger.

I've already told my wife I'm buying one if it looks anything like the Ford Bronco concept from the early 2000s. That was the best one I have seen "Boxy but Good!", Rainman.

I spoke to an owner of a Ford dealership yesterday and the Bronco and Ranger truck have been 100% confirmed to return in 2019. He is flying to Vegas to look at the prototypes. He says Ford has been taking new jeeps and pulling them apart to get ideas for a new Bronco/ "Jeep Killer" and says the concept from what others in the industry are saying (I don't know how true any of this is) will resemble the 66-77 Bronco as close as the New Dodge Challenger resembles the older Challenger.

I appreciate the insight, but I'm not going to hold my breath on a jeep killer, or even a market competitor, from ford. Hopefully I'm wrong and I can apologize for this post in three years.

Agreed!

With that, just thinking about how Ford has tackled the Off Road market with the Raptor etc. they are certainly capable of building a "Jeep Killer" if they want to. Wether or not it comes to market is a whole other topic for discussion. I too have read many articles from other reputable sources as well as my local dealer said it is true on the return, specially for the ranger as it was their #1 selling truck for my area... I am just glad it is not coming out for another 3 years so I can finish my current build and have time to pay off some other debts... yeah I will be telling them to shut up and take my money too if it remotely resembles the concept...
