Yes, that's right. It was Cole Motor Co. (Where I bought my first truck) then. Buster Miles was the Chevy dealer in town and Miles bought out Cole in probably 1995 and a few years later built the new dealership at the freeway.

I drove it around a little today. Ran great, but I smelled gas!...Yes the Gasoline type. The fuel pump was leaking gas through the weep hole. NAPA had a new pump in stock, so we are going again!

Everytime I see another '77 thread, I always have a hint of excitement wondering if it will be another medium "Y" code Jade Bronco.

I love it man! Keep the big turbines on her. When I picked mine up from Colorado, she still had the 1977 date coded wires on her as well; supposedly first year for silicone ignition wires.

On all of the forum, here's what I've seen so far for "Y" coded Bronco's.

I know of three official Y codes; not to be confused with the R coded Jade color.

I have a "Y" code 77 Ranger but it's not very purdy. It has a camo paint job right over the factory paint and most of the chrome has been ripped off or painted flat black:p
I saw fordfan's Bronco this weekend and it is a beauty!

Thanks Wheelhorse. I looked at your Bronco before it was yours , and thought "that's the same as Porky's old Bronco. and man it looks good!" There was also another "Y" code '77 Ranger that I admired, but I have only seen a very few pictures of it. It was one that was in some of BCBronco's catalogs a few years ago; it had one of their soft tops on and it was a really sharp rig in the pics! Maybe it was one of BCBronco's Broncos...

What about the hood?

I think he is saying that the pictures look like there are no vents for the fresh air?

OK, yes, it does looks like they don't exist, but they do.

Does anyone know about the Warn bumpers for the Bronco. There is something about this all black bumper that bothers me on this Bronco. Here is a 'top of the line' Ranger with a black bumper. It seems it needs a little bling...ie chrome. Does anyone know if Warn ever offered a different version beside this all black model?

If nothing else, this bumper needs refinishing. The shop that did the repaint really did a bad job on the bumper. It looks like they wiped it off and sprayed it high gloss black. No sanding, no anything...it don't look good. I keep seeing a chrome bumper!:cool:

The white Bronco is suppose to be a Warn bumper also... Although this bumper looks a little massive.

I love the look of this bronco. It sits just right and I love the cool old Vector wheels. Really glad you were able to get it back in the family.

Congrats on your new purchase, looks really good. I don't recall seeing the RANGER badge on the glove box positioned in that place, I bet that was uh-oh during the manufacture process.

I have seen a Chrome bumper like the one that is on the 77 you just purchased, minus the push bar, however I don't know if it was from the factory like that or someone had it done.
Looks like you got some good eaten hanging there in the last pic of 77.

I like the way they did the radius arms to correct the caster, from the looks of the welds and the way it was gusseted they knew were doing, not saying I would do it, but it has held up for who knows how long. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey Surfer! I was just looking at the Ranger stripes on your Bronco from Broncitis. The paint shop that painted this Bronco by in 2000 did a good job with the stripes but they are painted on instead of vinyl.

The "Ranger" badge is different from most. The letter style is even different and it is in a different position on the glove box lid. It seems these were on the later build '77's. This is a 5-77 build which was getting towards the end of the line for the EB!

Oh! the fresh meat hanging....I should of photoshopped that!

In regards to the hood; Yes, I was referring to the fresh air vents and now I see them.

We're up to five "y" codes now.

As far as the bumper is concerned...mine was factory ordered as well and if it had a bumper as cool as yours, I probably would have kept it. I believe winches were left up to how well the dealer wanted to install them...after market Warn bumper or modifying the stock bumper. Mine, however, it was just an extended stock bumper and I felt it just sort of stuck out like a sore thumb. So, I sold my winch off to help afford to get mine back on the road.

This is the adapter that mounted to the frame on mine.

With the winch mounted:

Without the winch.

Like I said, yours looks tough with the big ole winch sticking out there because of the meatier bumper, but I felt mine looks better without.

That Ranger badge has me curious. Could be a dash repaint, or possibly a factory error. That would be neat!

Here is a pic of the usual spot:

Here is a pic of the usual spot:

I have seen the badge on the top of the glove box door on some of the later built '77's. Porky is a 5-77 build date. I have noticed several little differences between Porky and Sweetie which is a earlier '77.

The inside of the doors were repainted when the body was painted, but the dash panel has never been painted.

The air cleaner on some '77s came black with only the air horn blue. It seems like the earlier 77's had the all blue air cleaner. There has also been some discussion about the chrome bumpers having the holes in them to attach the bumperettes. Originally there was a chrome bumper with holes for the front and one without for the rear. Later when then the stock was depleted, I'm sure Ford only stocked the bumper with holes as a replacement. (So only one part# instead of two).
