My second Bronco... Crawler build...

Got it under the rig, to start squaring it up and getting links and mounts sorted out. Looks like I may have to comp cut the back after all...

And the final tally as to wheelbase....

Just know what you want to do with it when you start. I started with a beater to end up with a rock crawler... beater. I have seen (and am guilty of) starting with a pretty nice ride and abusing it as a crawler- which ultimately destroys a vehicle over time. I think it is magnified on the East coast as the trails are tight and slick...

BUT- should you move forward with a crawler- let me know... I would love to help out!

Well... After a great time at the Super Celebration- I got some motivation to work on the crawler again.

First a pic of some custom fab I acquired at the SC... These may be on sake soon at a prominent Bronco vendor!

On to real fab... Or actually more deconstruction... I cut the rear driver fender well out, first so I can dove it and second so I can figure rear coilover hoops. I want to be able to use the half doors I have, so I want to keep the doorpost relatively correct position. I assume I will have to notch the fender- not sure where- any advice is appreciated.

BTW- this is a U14 body and from the seats back there is zero rot... Just light surface rust and no replacement panels... Not even in the corners. If the front wasn't so bad when I got it, I may have felt bad about cutting this one up...

are you retaining the tailgate? will it be functional? how much are you dovetailing it?

Dove will be 14"- that will keep the main floor intact. Losing the tailgate- I have a winch to sink between the frame rails and it looks like it will stick up into where the tailgate would be.

The section between the corner post and the floorboard was cut out and that is 7" per side. I just have to figure where/how to notch the bed rails to provide a somewhat seamless transition to the dove without folding the door post outward.

It is a U14, but really in name only (glovebox only?). Got a crappy old hard top with it- full top, but its junk besides the windows. Let me know if you need the windows Tom... I would make you a sweet deal for them!

This thing looks pretty crazy. These tires/wheels are wicked wide... Too wide really. I will run them, but I think 43" SXs on normal offset 17" wheels would narrow it up a lot. That would be a few years out.
