Today was not much better, Sprdv1. I'm gonna just chill and take a real easy-does-it approach.

Done. For now. Sorta. In hindsight, I had a couple of challenges that slowed progress. 1) all new gauges that lacked oem locations and connections. 2) Relocated control knobs, not in oem locations. Oh, and 3) my tendency to jump in headfirst, before checking how deep the water is. This is where the dash is at....

I would like to verify that the wires are at least in the neighborhood where they belong before installing the dash, thereby restricting access.

Man-o-mister, ain't that the trurh! Ken, I bought the AA harness way back when the earth was still cooling and don't remember what I paid for it. The prices now are quite a chunk beyond what I would be willing to give if I had really blew it. Not sure I got it right, and I still have a fair pile of pieces and parts and wires and splices, but the wiring may be close enuff to pass muster for Mediocrates.

Today ended up being kind of a shelter in place day. Had high hopes of joining the body and the chassis, but the the wind blew like crazy, and the tornado warnings were not encouraging. Ended up only installing a new neutral safety switch and the speedo gearzmo.

That is the same harness I used. I thought it was a pretty good harness. The one thing I did do was add an 8 pin plug/connector to separate the main harness to the rear body/frame harness where it comes out of the dash and goes to the back of the truck. It made it a lot easier to separate the body and frame down the road and makes the harness a little less of a glob. Keep at it Howard, it is coming along really nice. Oh, by the way, looking at the bunch of wires gives me vertigo.

That's good to know Ken. I also think it is a good, quality harness. The issues I've had have been mostly self-inflicted, as noted above. I thought the instructions were fairly good, but illustrations of parts locations would have made them better. I have John in the AA tech department on speed dial and I think we're becoming BFFs. I am exactly at the pin/connector spot now. I do like the way American Autowire provides pieces and parts to customize an installation. I am also looking for wire loom(s) that are not ugly as sin, and spiffy ways to secure the wiring, and where to secure the wiring. Thanks for commenting Ken, I always apprciate input form you and others. Well, some others. Howard in beautiful West Mittengan.

Together again! Isn't there a country song by that name? What I mean is the body and the chassis, finally together again. After the wiring adventures (sorry bout the vertigo Ken.) the waiting on the weather and some sporadic brain fog, I think I made it to where I wanted to be.

It may be easier every time I do it, but nerve-wracking nonetheless. 20230406_135531.jpg 20230406_141744.jpg

Suddenly, there's a strange combination of a LOT of work to do and scent of being near the finish line.

Thanks El Kabong! Gotta admit it feels pretty darn good!. Now if I can just avoid going backwards again again..... You must be quite the music fan. Do you play the guitar that's on your avatar?

Crazy thing happened Steve! While I was busy putzing and frittering, I inadverdantly got a little bit of paint on 'er! All this time I've been thinkin' that Bronco "finished" was just a theoretical concept, that it had never been done before. Well, maybe, just maybe, it'll get done before I get 'done'. Goes for you, too, Ken, so hang in there......

Steve, that is an absolute hoot! What your thought was never entered my mind although there is a lot of empty space there...... Love the 'dramaticals'! Good descriptive word!

Hokey-smokey Ken, that looks just like one of the girls I dated way back when. At least the lampshade part. Dennis, thank you! I just hope the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train. Thanks ba123! Livin' the dream here in beautiful west Mittengan.
