is that heat exchanger gonna get any airflow where you have it? are you going to put some small fans on it?

is there any way you can mount it in the back instead? i see some of the 03 cobra guys run a large reservoir in the spare tire spot in the trunk so you could throw the res and h/e back there. it would at least save on the underhood heat. just an idea.

It'll get plenty of air flow. I seen another thread where a guy welded vents into his inner fenders. Since I'm going to be building my own all I have to do is get some slotted vent stamped into the metal before I bend it up and weld the seems. Really running out of room. I have both large and small canisters but nowhere to really throw the large one. I do understand that it does run an inline pump, but I just want to keep everything as close as possible and the cab as open as possible for creature comfort.

gotcha..... fans? did you run into issues with heat soak when you had the engine in your last rig? i remember seeing the vid of you running the piss out of it. my eaton heat soaked pretty bad when i ran back to back passes with it. i considered using the nitrogen spray on the h/e to cool it down but i got decent results out of putting ice in the reservoir.

So not a hole lot to update on. A jungle of wires looks just like a jungle of wires. Decided since I'm going to be wanting to drive it long distances now I'm going to have to figure a way to mount the air to water intercooler. It looks really clean on the side but comes to close to the wheel opening so we just have to lay it flat. Gauges are all cut and in. The ignition, headlight, winch, and locker switches are all that are left for the dash. I will have 2-4 Switch panels. One will be in front of the shifter box for the line locks, and the other mount to the back of the shifter box for extra lights. Oh and before I get any goofy comments about the amount of gauges, the way I look at it is the motor is going to cost between $5K to $10K if I smoke it. The other thing is it makes it super easy to diagnose most things really quick. I actually get a kick out of watching my gauges on long trips and while out wheeling in my diesels. Last is the location of two of the three sets of rock lights. One on each of the front hoops up against the firewall and the second in the rear wheel wells. Last weren't mounted in yet but will go up just in front of the rear bumpers. Will have some pics next week of most the rest, and a video of her purring away minus exhaust.

Your pictures look good and get me hyped up to finish my bronco. Thanks for taking time to post all this on your build. Before I had my bronco they built me a sandrail but I decided to sell and get something I could drive on the street. I can say from my experience you won't find a more honest straight forward person than Evan. Very intelligent with tuning and thanks again for their shop info, trying to find a shop has been a stumbling block for me.

To be honest I can't say for sure. Out wheeling I don't get back to back direct performance numbers to look at like on a strip. In the buggy setup we ran for a couple years, it was an open element with two large fans over it running the trans fans full time plus the one for the larger than OE radiator. We simply looped the intercooler into the radiator cooling system which seemed to handle it fine due to the larger volume and crap loads of fans. This will be it's first time in a enclosed area, but we are running the same amount of fans, have the vented hood scoops, and are adding it's own cooling system. Stiegemeier did a full inspection on her when they ported it and said she looked good so I know I didn't damage anything over the two years anyways.

I seem to have been having good luck for the past few years. I think I'm getting a knack for locating oddball manufactures and stuff like that, that are just as crazy as me about getting enjoyment out of doing the imposable and making things work. It's nice to see people finally thinking outside the box and not just taking the easy road. Who knows maybe with this new line of Eco-boost motors and the new 5.0 we will finally get a craze of turn-key modern installs for use Ford enthusiasts finally. Not that I don't like the 302/351W/351C/460 motors, it's just nice to be able to park a vehicle for months and be able to go out and start it right up, not have to constantly tune, or be able to just plug in a computer to diagnose issues.

I think a lot of people would agree with you on these ideas. Truth is there are not a lot of shops that want to tackle things like what your doing without someone who has already paved the way. I know there are some places here in the Bay Area that will do fabrication but when it comes to modern computer style engines that need tuning and out of the ordi nary work I have already been shot down.
I think there are people out there who want something like yours but do not have the tools and time but would be willing to pay for it. It can be a win win situation, you get your bronco finished and others might give these guys business from your postings.

Update 3/17/11

Well she comes home on Monday. Got to hear her start yesterday. For not having exhaust on it was pretty quite. Just a couple of quick pics I snapped before I had to take off. Cage is being picked up from Powder coating today.

Update 3/21/11

The sweet sound of music or 8 cylinders pumping over 400 ponies of forced air in an old hunk of iron. She's alive!!!!!!

So still have a long list of crap to do. She definitely won't be 100% for Knotts Berry Fabulous Fords Forever but I'll take her down there in whatever state she's in. Just plan on having it all dialed in by Bronco's on the Con.

Well money's getting tight so I improvised on the spare tire carrier. lol J/K
Just propped it up to try and get some measurements on angles and spacings. Also realized I never posted up a pic of the gas filler neck and return in the new location.
