I am building my 351 . I will be using a Ron Francis (rjm) engine harness and want to use a remote mount TFI. What would be involed? Would I have to cut and splice the new harness? Is there a harness made that I could use. Also I have a core 92 t-bird distributer with the remote tfi but that would not work because the motor is a 5.0 correct ? So I have been looking at the Mallaroy. Not sure which direction to go here. Oh..... and I am using the A9P

I know of 3 ways to pull off the distributor. Find a mid 90's truck with a 351 and remote TFI, take a regular distributor and put a notch in the housing to fit a remote TFI harness, read the wiring carefully and use 3 wires on the regular TFI as a wiring pass through to a remote TFI harness.

Next fun game is dwell. Early EFI likes to use TFI controlled dwell while later like to run computer controlled dwell. I hear it exists but I never found the source for a remote TFI with TFI controlled dwell that works with the early computers.

Don't know of any plug and play harness. You will be adapting and modifying stuff yourself.

You would have to modify the harness. 5.0 distributor won't work but there are 5.8 remote TFI distributors. Just look at early '90s truck applications. Might need to swap gear.

Here is a diagram. Compare it to the diagram here:http://www.oldfuelinjection.com/?p=6

TFI remote mount is the only way to go. I used a Mallory direct mount tfi dist. ( because I had it) and found a remote heat sink. Mounted the direct mount module on it and made a wire harness for it

Yeah, I have the heat sink and may do that as well. I was planning on getting the Mallory, but not sure if it would be better to buy the remote mount unit? It does not say if it actualy comes with the tfi? And I would still have to modify the harness.:p Bax if you had to do it over would you buy the same distributer?

The mallory or the TFI ? IMO the mallory is a better dist than a stock one and way better than an MSD. If you want to have spark control then the TFI is what you run.
