Hope you didn't miss the rainbow bridge just outside of Riverton.
That is about all we have to offer in the way of Route 66 here in Kansastan.

not a lot of miles today. left Vinita OK this morning and are calling it a day in Bristow OK. Oil pressure was low again today so we pulled into the little town of Chelsea OK. went to a little one man garage (Don's auto repair) I had him do an oil change and put in valvoline 20-50 . that fixed the problem.

Did some sight seeing today, saw the hand painted totem poles, the blue whale, and spent several hours in the J.M. Davis arms and historical museum in Clairmore OK. a private collection of guns on display by the city. over 50,000 guns . oldest was 600 years old. we probably only saw 2/3 of it.

time for a cocktail , more to follow

So when do you estimate you will be in New Mexico? WE have been close to 100 for the past few days... but the humidity is single digit....but the sun and the UV really burn through at 5000 feet+ elevation. If you need maintenance or a breather, I am 1 mile north of I-40/66 on the west side of Albuquerque.

You know Tom, thinking this is a neat idea for a future cruise with few of your bronco brothers/sisters!

if I did this again it would not be in the middle of the summer heat. I would rather do a fall run and wear a jacket. This heat really wears you out. Heading out this morning headed for the lone star state.

Wind was blowing almost 20mph at daylight when checking cattle. It's going to be a hot windy drive heading west today!

Left EL Rino OK this morning headed for Texas. was going to stop at the OK Route 66 museum but it was closed, took some pictures from outside, Was going to stop at the national Route 66 museum in Elk City OK, it was closed also. That's what we get for traveling Sun. morning. We saw some cool sights the last two days, round barn, pops a place that sells vintage pop and pop from around the world. At one point today we were traveling a frontage road next to the original road which was closed. we decided to get on the closed portion and drive it for a while. we had to go down the ditch to get to it. lots of dead and downed trees and barely one lane, didn't stay on it long . Made it to Texas today and are staying at the Route 66 inn in shamrock Texas. had a great steak at Big Verns. heading out in the morning with no particular plan.
forgot to mention I got myself a rattle snake in OK near Texas. it was sunning on the road as we were crossing a bridge and I could not swerve out of the way because there was a car coming from the other direction

left Shamrock TX this morning. stopped at a route 66 and barb wire museum in McLean TX, interesting little place. worked our way around Amarillo avoiding the interstate. stopped at the big Texan for lunch home of the free 72 oz. steak if you can eat it. I had the 6 oz. steak sandwich. drove on to Vega TX and stopped for the evening. still having oil pressure issues. after several hours of driving the oil pressure starts dropping. I believe the gauge is working, but bought an old style under the dash gauge I might install it if this continues. also bought some Lucas oil stabilizer and will give that a shot. I am afraid the old girl is wearing out.
