Those running 17" wheels...

I'm looking at getting a set of winter tires / wheels.
I am finding that most 17" wheels have a 4.5" backspace which is too deep for 12.50 wide tires.
Anyone running 17" wheels with a 3.5 - 4" backspace? What have you got.

I tried the search here but came up with everything but this question.

I run 17x9 wheels with 4.5" back spacing, my tire size is 37x12.5. I ran them most of last year and had no issues other than I wish they had a wider stance. Recently I was given a set of 2" wheel spacers and am much happier with the stance.

Thanks Krawler-
My concern is going with the 4.5" BS it will rub on the radius arms even more.
I've got a powerhouse motor going in this spring so I'm not too keen on spacers.

I have Dick Cepek Gunmetal 17x9 wheels on my Bronco with 4.5" back spacing. They look good with plenty of clearance for the tie rod. They clear better than they did on my 78 Bronco. I can get a picture for you. I have 35x12.50 Cooper Discoverer STTs.

I am running 17×9.5 with 3.5 back spacing but they are beadlocks. Allied rock 8's with 37×12.50 rockers and I have rub marks on the Duff long arms as well as the shocks.

I custom ordered steel ProComp 17x9s with 3.5" backspacing from 4wheelParts. It took a few weeks. I placed the order at one of their Truckfest shows and had a discount coupon.

I'm not famailar w/ the 2" spacers, I commonly see 1 1/4" wheel spacers offered. In fact I have a set ordered right now, and was looking forward to having a 2 1/2" wider overall stance.

So are your spacers 2" each, giving a net 4" wider outside stance? Or 1", giving the bronco a net 2" total more width?

It also depends on the tires you choose to run...my new 37x12.5 BFG M/T's mounted on 17x9.5 Allied/Raceline Monster beadlocks with 4" BS are significantly narrower than my old 33x12.5 BFG M/T's on 15x10 w/ 3.5" BS wheels. The old tires would rub the inner sidewall against the shock mounts on my CAGE radius arms whereas the new tires don't come all that close, even with the deeper BS wheels.

What tire are you thinking of running?

That's what I'm running although the new R/T's are pretty awesome. My buddy is the TOYO motorsports rep and he has them on his Suburban. If you do mostly on road he says they are definitely the way to go.

Yeah. I looked at the R/T's, same price as the M/T's. I liked the side-biters on the M/T's better for low pressure snow cruising. My Bronc is 80% off-road since the Tahoe National Forest is my back yard.
I'm sticking with 17" wheels so in the future if I want to upgrade to 37's I don't have the added expense of another set of wheels too.
For some reason I can only find 3.5 - 4" Backspace in beadlocks only. Lots of beadlocks out there now, (Raceline, Fuel Anza, TrailReady, ++) but they are twice the price.

I picked up a set of 17 x 8 rims, is 8" too narrow to run a 35x12.5x17 tire?

I scored my beadlocks on the raceline website in the clearance section. Don't hate me but they were close to $500 for the set, delivered!

I am running 17" x 9" wheels with 4.5" back spacing. Tires are Nitto Terra Grappler 265/70 (32" x 10.5")... No rubbing or any problems.
