I had mine done a www.performancecryogenics.com. Ask for Dean, he is the owner and real good guy. Tell him that I said "Hi" if you talk to him. Are you going to respline them to 35 spline? If so, you need to find another long side rear axle shaft. The short side rear shaft isn't large enough (diameter) to respline to 35 spline. You can get 31 spline out it though.
Thanks Pat,
I've been researching this and I must of read your build thread more than a dozen times. I'll be calling Dean about this and his H1 wheels this week, Seems like his website doesn't load.
I may go with a 31 spline cut because I got the diff and I won't need to get another axle shaft, Mac at Exaxt said they are in demand and getting scarce. This raises a question that I asked previously, "Aren't the axle and gear side specific?" I thought the helical gear are cut a certain way for each side..
I'll have the answers as soon as I open up the other end. I got today to go and work the front axle at the shop so we can get it home.
Thanks again,
Honorio

edit... I see that the end gear is removable on the axle shaft...

Looks good Mad. I'd like to find a front mog axle to build a mog/9 front axle. The gears are side specific, but there are a lot guys that don't pay attention when they pull everything apart and then end up putting them back in the wrong side. They have all reported no issues with running them backwards though.

The gear on the axle shaft is removable. You have to grind off the little dimple that is pinned over to prevent the machine screw from backing out. Then you can take the screw out and use a bearing puller to get the gear and two bearings off of the shaft.

I didn't know that there were roll pins under the big washer and got them broken off.. It won't happen on the next one...
It took a 2 1/8" socket, 3/4" drive impact wrench and a couple of big guys to remove the big bolt...

Hey Mad, there are roll pins under the big washers. :-* LOL! Those bolts are torqued to 750 ft. lbs!! The hubs are pressed on there and are a B$TCH to get off. I used a 40 ton press at first and it didn't budge them. Then I went to a buddies shop with a 80 ton press and they still wouldn't budge. I finally had to put the rose bud to them to get them warmed up and finally got them to pop loose.

I need some education on these unimog front axles..
How do they come apart?
It does look like the CV joint needs to be taken apart first before I get to the gearboxes.

Just want to make sure before I dig into them...

Plus does anyone have a breakdown schematic of the front unimog axle assembly that they could post up?

Looking at 2.50 R&P (total 5.30 overall gearing) with 39.5 Iroks but you know how these things go, It may change... 40's, 42's, 44's I'm still having bad dreams from the trip....%)

That gearings almost streetable without an overdrive. I've been happy with the 42's, but it's kind of mandatory on a fullsize. Wish they made those IROK stickies in a 16.5 rim........

Hey Mad,
Expedition Imports has exploded diagrams on their site, plus they have all the seals, bearings, and spare parts....

Yes , it is very nice to have the right equipment available . I'm lucky enough to work at a place that sells and services the kinds of stuff that your machinist friend uses .

Looks like you are making good progress on the MOG stuff ;)

What are you trying to search for?

This thread..
I had to go through OX1's history to find this since I knew he replied to it.. Mine went back too many pages and ended.

Pat,
Can I get the measurement of your housing between the mog flange face that you fabricated?

I measured Lee's Barbie and it was 35 3/8"
