What did you have to replace or remove upon buying your Bronco from the PO

I have to remove 30 years of rewiring that seemed to be connected to nothing. For flooring the previous owner installed carpeting over the holes. When I lifted the rug I spotted my son looking up from underneath

What did you have to remove or replace upon buying your Bronco?

Wires going to nowhere for me.
Sound familiar?

Oh, and after two test-drives, very pleased with the high oil pressure, I had to add 5 qts of oil before I drove it home.
Even with the good gauge reading, I decided to check the oil manually and found it didn't even register until the 4th quart!
I know that's not quite the same, but I did have to "replace" the oil, so thought I'd mention it.

I had to remove the carpet then the fiberglass ayer that was over the floor, then fix the floor correctly, with metal.
still got the front to do, it has an extra metal layer too original floor, metal layer, fiberglass layer, carpet..

wire need replaced too..most of its disconnected where is was butchered and started to smoke..

Had to add locktite to the ring bolts in the rear,, found this out after 8 of them fell out out of the front..

How about a monstrosity of a trailer hitch? Of course all of the wiring and hydraulic plumbing to the trailer brake switch, as well.

Evian- I had the same wiring issues. Initially I removed an outdoor extension cord from under the hood and moved everything back to the original locations.
Then last year I removed a column mounted turn signal. The PO ran new wire to every light and kept all the old wiring. I put in a new turn signal switch and everything worked with the factory wiring. I ended up with a box of wire.

I not only removed a trailer brake transmitter (thankfully, the electric kind that worked off the brake pedal and was strapped to the steering column), but wiring at both the rear AND front. The previous owner not only used the Bronco to tow his fishing boat, but also towed it behind his motorhome as the dinghy.

Had to undo yards of electrical tape to get to everything, and then figure out which wires were unnecessary and which needed to stay. (The wiring for the fuel tank solenoid, for example, which was taped in with the other added-on wires.

I breathed a small sigh of relief when I was all done and my taillights and brake lights still worked!

The engine.

As part of the purchase deal I bought the truck and he got to keep his fresh rebuilt 302, right down to the duel carter 625s (yes a 302 had 1250CFM of carb in a Bronco).
Just had to put a 351 in...

pretty much everything. floors were shot and there was an old tired 6 in it. d30 up front, drum brakes, 3 speed.

i keep wondering why i even bought a complete bronco now. i could have went with a decent tub for way less and would have been better off.

Well he had a 4.5" lift with the shocks only having 1" of down travel and installed one of the rear spring bolts backwards so it hung up on the spring hanger and wondered why the suspension didn't travel. Had wiring shorts so just changed the wiring harness and still need to replace floor pans they used thin roofing aluminum (like what you get at Lowe's in the roles) to cover the holes.

The first thing I ripped out was the green house carpeting with gold flecks. It didn't go too well with the blue exterior%)

I removed layer after layer of pop riveted patches on the tub and when I was done the tub was in 8 pieces.

My Bronco had a funny smell coming out of it when the heat was on. I didn't feel the heat but I detect the odor. Apparently a long time ago a mouse had made a home in my Bronco's vents. I found tons of rat dropping inside the vent with a small cotton nest he managed to make.

Nothing. The PO had spent 8 years doing this because his PO had thoroughly thrashed this one on the trails around here. It ran and drove great for a few years and then I replaced a few front end parts to get rid of the d-wobble. Ten years later, rebuilt the engine.
