Yeah, I guess that'll work, at least the parts about disorder, confusion and chaos. I've taken a bit of a break from truly trying to accomplish anything meaningful on the Bronco for the time being and decided to putz with a top, or two, or in my case, three. I've got a Rampage cinnamin spice soft top, a normal (for now) hard top, and a hard top in the process of being abreviated to a safari top. Here's a post from a few days ago that may get you into the spirit. https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/what-have-you-done-to-your-bronco-today.146837/page-1301 post 26,020 Here's a post of the soft top, https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/buck-n-a-bronco.286019/page-23 post 451 And here's a post that goes off the tracks a bit. https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/buck-n-a-bronco.286019/page-24 post 466

Well, I bought myself another top back in March 'cause I thought it was in better shape than the three I already had. Turns out, not so much...... 20220318_113115.jpg 20220318_113105.jpg

I removed the hatch and cut off the window sides where there was just thin sheet metal to contend with. Then, with a drill bit and a chisel and a pliers began removing the attaching pieces and parts that were spot-welded to the top.

Turns out, it was plenty rusty and corroded. Hmm, now what.....

Hmm, not sure just what is puzzling you, Shimmy. I hate to see a guy like you chagrined though. Tag along for a few more laps and maybe then maybe you'll see which way the wind is blowin'.

Once the spot-welded pieces and parts were mostly exposed, I took a wire wheel on a 4" grinder and cleaned it up as best I could. 20220722_112924.jpg

Then I sprayed some Rustoleum rust reformer in spots and used some KBS three part rust treatment in other spots. 20220721_101325.jpg

20220722_122255.jpg Next, I added some self-adhesive mesh to the entire inside perimeter of the top at gutter level.

And then applied two coats of resin to the meshed inside gutter area. 20220723_144921.jpg

I believe there's room for all of it Yeller. After seeing what Ken and you chipped in, I'm thinkin' the upside-downer pics fit right in - kinda like two birds ith one stone.

Shimmy, I hope it all works out, too! Truth be told, I'm not always sure where I'm goin' 'till I get there.

I cut back the corroded flanges as much as I dared, hopefully leaving enough 'meat' to weld on the replacement metal stiffners that are being fabricated. Brushed on a coat of white epoxy to hopefully encapsulate any rust that hadn't seen the light and been 'reformed' by the Rustoleum and KBS. 20220723_144910.jpg 20220723_151430.jpg

Emergency Weather Newsflash!! Last night, a ginormous thunder and lightning and rain downpour passed through the area, enough rain that I thought about building an ark. Thunder woke me at 2:30, and I realized that my hoped-for safari top was outside the barn, upside-down, serving as a rain gauge! Not wanting the top to buckle, I threw on some p-jammies and got in the truck and drove to the barn, 10 miles +/- away in Zeeland. Upon arrival, I find the top was water-tight and resembling a good-sized birdbath. I made some waves to lighten the load and then dropped one side to te ground, draining most of the water and avoiding flood damage.

Like the old Wheel Horse Howard. I bought a new one around 84 and that thing is still being passed around the family somewhere and still running. Oh, and nice job on the roof. Should be good and solid.

Big double yuppers on the Wheel Horse, Ken. I've had a few of them through the years and it seems you just can't kill them. Along ways to go yet on the top. I'm hoping the cancer will all be properly encapsulated. I'm having stiffners fabricated, and then I'll have to think about side-to-side re-inforcement.

Not sure how I get myself into this kinda thing fairly often, but most of the time I also get myself out. Decided to make the work station portable.

Does anyone know how straight the drip edge should be along all four sides and the x and y axis (horizontal and vertical)?
