New problem with the turn signals. A little history. This is a 74 with an automatic and 302 engine. I haven’t driven it since I got it a couple years ago. All the lights, turn signal, brake etc. all worked. After I replaced the alternator and was running the engine to test it I noticed that my left blinker was on went and turned it off and both turn indicators started flashing so I tried the right side and both front lights were blinking but only the left rear and it did the opposite when I tried the left. I pulled 2 fuses the top left and the center one beneath ( there’s 2 fuses on the top and 3 verticly below) and nd that did nothing they still would blink I have done nothing under there dash except flip the ammeter cable around because it was doing the opposite of what it should and also hooked up a wire that goes to the voltage regulator, which I un hooked once I saw what happened with the turn signals but that didn’t make any difference. That is All I did under there dash except dash. Any ideas as I have run out of them.

I don’t have a hazard switch I think the PO left it off when he put the new tilt steering column in.

so theres no hazard switch on the column pretty sure a stock 74 would have been column mounted as well as most all of the tilt columns out there .. pictures may help. being able to ID what your working with would help,

Bulb grounds.
When the ground goes bad, the 1157 bulb acts as a pathway to allow the ground to find a new home via the adjacent circuit. The brake/turn will try to find a ground through the other lights in the park circuit. This can make other lights on that circuit light up. Due to different resistance and number of lights in the circuit, some stuff might light up fairly bright, or just be dim. Add any LED bulbs and things can get even funnier. Depending on the driver circuit for the LED, stuff can light up fully with almost no voltage, or not.

I’m an idiot it does have a hazard switch on the right side of the column I never noticed it but it doesn’t work and I haven’t seen another flasher unit just the one for the turn signals but anyway I must have bumped it at some time and that was the problem everything else works fine now I have to figure out what was done by the PO which will be fun as the column is a Flamingriver river so I don’t know what wire does what and I don’t want to mess with what the PO did and go down that rabbit hole.
