Sad part is nothing..... Wish I had some time. Life gets in the way.
Long gone are the days where you can spend the entire weekend working on a car and no one would yell at you.Sad part is nothing..... Wish I had some time. Life gets in the way.
^^^This^^^Shimmy,
Leave the cage loose and address the door gaps. Hand tighten the cage bases that are making contact with the floor. Then measure and make shim plates for the bases not making contact floor. Add the shims and lightly tighten the bases. And keep a watch for changes to the door gaps. Adjust shims thicknesses and placement as needed. This worked for me on a previous Bronco. When I installed a used cage.
I like the two-tone look. The stainless screws tie in with the aluminum plate. That is if you stop looking at that beautiful paint. When I pulled my hardtop off, I discovered my bedrails were not very pretty. The paint was intact but they were a bit dented. It looks like the PO had overtorqued the bolts. I can’t even think about leaving them as-is, even though only a little shows under the soft top hardware .
So today I fabricated some rail covers out of 1/16 aluminum which hide the imperfections. They also cover up the stake pockets nicely. The backside has weatherstrip to keep it off the body and to keep water from pooling underneath.
I am still deciding if I should paint them black or leave polished. If I don’t paint then, I’d still hit them with Nyalic. What do you all think?
