    Explorer fan question

I'm running a 96 Explorer 5.0 with the steel clutch fan. On a trail run a few weeks ago I could here the fan engage right at 200 degrees. Would only run for a short time.

    Explorer powers steering plimbing

I took the stock Explorer line and cut it off. Tig welded the steel tube to a fitting that the Ford hose for the 4x4x2 will mate with. Now have a steel fitting on pump end. If hose ever fails it's a stock hose.

Art Carr or Lokar for c4 ??

I have ran a Winters for ten years plus. I believe you can't go with a better shifter especially for an off-road truck. Mine is 90% trail. I would consider the Lokar for a resto-mod street Bronco. Not a serious off-road truck. Both good quality, I just feel they have two different uses.

    Explorer Power Steering pump

I'm running a 96' Explorer 5.0 with the stock ps pump. I just did this swap this winter. I swapped to the 4x4x2 box and put a 1.5" hyd. assist cylinder on it. Just got back from a week in Moab with it. My steering is a little slow but was never an issue. I was able to run trails with my...

    Explorer 5.0 ps pump

Does anyone have any info on doing mods to a 96' Explorer ps pump for more output. I put a 1.5 inch hydro assist cylinder on and would like better performance. It seems to have the needed assist to turn the tires with the ARB locked, but it is a little slow. It seems to have resistance if you...

    Explorer 5.0 Temp.

Thanks for the input. I am running the explorer 5.0 controlled by all mustang gear. I am used to an old 70's 302 with a two barrel. Running at 195-200 down the road is a lot different from what I have been used to. I run a large high quality aluminum radiator, no inner fenders etc. It has a...

    Explorer 5.0 Temp.

Quick question for the explorer 5.0 crowd. took the Bronco for about a twenty mile shake down drive yesterday. Engine temp. at 50-55mph fluctuated between 195-200deg. Then 180-185 in town. Air temp. was about 60 or a little over. It still has stock thermostat which is 195deg. Just curious...

Change brake fluid as reg maintenance?

Brake fluid is Hydroscopic. I know that isn't spelled right.... Which means it attracts and absorbs water. It doesn't take very long for the water content to become fairly high. It will pull water into the system. This will cause the fluid to boil at a very low temp, let alone the corrosion...

    5.0 wont give codes.......

Well I just went out to the shop and switched ECU's. fired it up and ran it up to temp and no check light anymore. Have not tried code reader, but looks like ECU had issues. It seems to run ok with that ECU so I guess I can carry it in my trail box as a spare. Maybe send it out and get it...
