Doing some homework to convert my 351W from Fitech to Explorer EDIS. Does anyone know of any aftermarket throttle bodies that will work with the explorer EDIS stuff. There's 86-93 mustang TB's available all day but cant find anything for the explorer stuff. Also, can the mustang TB be modified to work with the explorer and if so what would need to be done? Im thinking the stock TB will be too small with my TFS 11R 190 heads and a .598 lift cam. Please correct me if I am wrong but Im thinking I need to flow more air than the stock TB will allow.

You may need a 70mm or 75mm TB for that cam and heads but it is surprising how much the stock size will feed, I am no expert on that though.
There really is not much difference between the Mustang TB and Explorer TB and in some ways the Mustang might be a better choice, at least in regard to the way the throttle cable attaches.

I don't need an intake, I just need a performance throttle body with a bigger opening that will accept the Explorer cables and tps. I am using the Trick Flow intake that has a 75mm TB opening.

Most if not all performance throttle bodies are made for Mustangs, the market for performance upgrades for Explorers is tiny.

That's what I'm curious about, can I use the mustang one on the explorer stuff?

I ran a mustang 70mm throttle body on an Explorer intake when I did a 330" stroker in a Ranger. Hated it, throttle was on or off at low speeds. I put the Explorer 65mm on and got my drivability back.

There was something about the TPS to throttle body mating that made me keep the TPS with the throttle body. But I could just change the wiring (different plugs) and both the Explorer and Mustang had the same TPS signal.

Well that was after I goofed and swapped the power and ground at the TPS, computer thought it was full throttle at idle and idle at full throttle. I probed the connections and got the right readings, ignoring the negative values since I typically don't worry about which lead I use. 1V at idle, meter shows -1V, I have the leads reversed. No, you were reading 4V at idle using 5V reference as the ground plane. Took a few days to sort that one out. But once I actually wired it right, they are completely interchangeable.
