glove box door rework

Now that i have my wiring where my glove box was I needed to be able to get to them. I will be installing a front roll bar kit soon and will only be able to open the door partly open.

I wanted to retain the glove box look, Here is what i did to fix this.

I drilled two 1/4" holes in the bottom of the dash about 1" from the center point.

Then I cut a small piece of angle to fit the door, bolted it to the door and put some 1/4" bolts out the bottom. I adjusted the height with a couple washers.

To keep the lid from rattling i took the tabs on each side of the box and bent them so they are close to touching the back of the door and added some foam tape.

Fuel issues

It looks like I may need to rethink my fuel system. I took the bronco to the roundup and I had some high pressure fuel pump problems. The high pressure fuel pump started getting hot and it didnt want to restart once shut off on the trail. then on one really rough trail that we were crawling in lo 1 for quite some time the pump just died. I got pulled off the trail and let it cool down and it started working after it cooled down.

I decided to stay out of the woods after that happened on day one. As long as i stayed on the road it seemed to get enough air flow to stay cool. I think it did some damage to the pump because after that i was only getting 30 psi. On the way home on interstate i had the check engine light come on when climbing a long hill and when i checked it out the code said possible low fuel pressure so i am figuring that is the problem.

Now i am unsure what route i will go. If I had to do over again i would have spent more money and got the efi tank with the pump in it. Im not sure if i should keep chasing this 2 pump / acumulator dream or bite the bullet and spend the big bucks on a new in pump/tank setup. Ill have to think it over.

I figured it would be fine there , it even has a nice heatsink. All i have to do is wait in line for gas and when i shut it off it wont start. Pour on some cold water and it starts right up. What kind of high pressure pump do you have chuzie?

My pump is a professional products 70150 I talked to summit tech today about it and they claimed that it could be my low pressure pump not supplying enough fuel to the accumulator or my wiring not being heavy enough for the pump. I realy dont belive it is either of those causing the problem.

Airtex P.O.S. E2000. I ride the trails with a spare but no issues. U running an accumulator? I had an issue a while back where I would run fine but couldn't start after shutting off. Long story short, it was the return line on my accumulator. Air was getting deposited instead of released and routed to tank. Caused loss of prime on HP. Removed accumulator from return line and no issues.

If water fixes the issue my accumulator idea is irrelevant, but just wanted to throw it out there.

I have been running just a single HP fuel pump mounted off the rear crossmember for over 5 years with no issues. I don't think that you need an accumulator. Just my $0.02

I set up my accumulator just like bc broncos instructions said. It has a t in the top of the acumulator with both the return excess fuel from the accumulator and fuel rail returning on the same line to the tank.

I understand most of the time i would not need an accumulator. I just wanted to make sure i dont have problems when things get rough, even if it doesnt happen too often.

I have entertained the thought of plumbing in a new high pressure fuel pump in front of my radiator so it wont have the hot air from the engine and it will get air pulled past it when the fan is on.

new fuel pump

I got my new fuel pump on, it is a walbro pump. I picked it up from summit. It has a built in check valve that actualy works unlike the last one that had one but did not hold presure. I decided to mount the pump inside my front bumper to eliminate any heat from the engine. Mounting it in the bumper also puts it below the acumulator so it doesnt have trouble pulling fuel and should never loose its prime. It now runs at a steady cool 39 psi. Here are some pics.

Thanks , I didn't want to leave it open. It will be protected on top when I bolt back on the winch with winch plate. Im glad I gave the two pump setup another chance it seems like it will work good with this new pump.

Where did you pick up that air filter adapter (round to square)?

It is a spectre adapter I picked it up at advanced auto. I think they stock it for all the import guys. You will have to drill some holes but no big deal.

I had a low and a high pressure pump and still had problems with the fuel boiling

I installed a power steering cooler in the return line above the rear axle

That cured it. And later when the low press pump died and I had to bypass it It worked fine. So I never replaced It
