No, fuel pump was swapped as well as the wipers swapped to electric. I have the vacuum wipers all cleaned up and restored (found some) so will install those after paint but still have not found a vacuum fuel pump. Anyone have one let me know. I probably never use the wipers but still would be nice to go back to original.

Not FoMoCo, but better than pulling off of your manifold! :)

Axle was removed and rebuilt. Some pics below. I took step by step as I have never done this before. Needed good docs to put it all back together. Replaced all bearings, seals, etc. Cleaned up and painted and installed. A pain in the A$$ to install by yourself.

Updates cont

More info on my roadster. Marti showed a 3.5 axle and both axles were tagged accordingly. But it looks like over the years (probably when the front axle broke) someone swapped both front and rears over to 4.11. See pics. New and old axle, tag, etc.

I need to take some new pics of the rebuilt new axle installed. New bushings, etc.

Paint!

Roadster in Paint. Finally started on it. Taking everything down to metal, etc. Supposed to be back in my garage by April 13th. Maybe make Broncorama
....I hope.

Wheels getting blasted and painted this week.

Hubcaps sent out to get refurbished (will look perfect). I am installing 66 caps on this. Sorry I like them better than the 67-77 ones. Sorry If I offend the Roadster gods.

More updates to come...Soon I hope. Summer is coming to Michigan. Cant wait.

Awesome work! I can't wait to see the old girl with some new paint on her.

Beer and a heated garage is a good combo to have!

Yeah...she argued with me about the final color all winter (wanted blue like Tim's). But I had to stick with the stock color. Poppy red...don't see to many roadsters that color.

Thanks..

Hey ....any progress on the camper? Cleaned it up at least?

I have not touched the camper yet. Waiting to get it pulled out of the garage and take a lot of pics of it before I start to do anything to it. It is pretty much untouched and still even has all the old canned food in it (ever hear of sliced cactus?) Well I have a jar if ya want some!:D
Sounds like you may just have to get another roadster for the wife! ;)
If you need a hand with anything just give me a call!!

Rich - love watching your builds! Are you doing the paint and body work yourself? If so, could I encourage you to do a short tutorial on block sanding? I'm going to be homeschooling myself in bodywork 101 and would love some more info.

Thanks! Ben

Thx Ben. Funny actually

I've been trying to learn / do body work. I did all the work in the posts prior to a week ago. Basically welding, panels , etc. I filled all the holes (welded) and then did the body work myself (filler, primer, block sanding, etc). Took it to the painter (copied below) and he basically re-did the prep (filler and block sanding).

I learned a lot and will try again as I think it just takes experience/repetition.

Sorry but I'm not ready to give a tutorial yet.;D

Later

Friendly tip that you might already be planning on doing.... grab a bottle of dish detergent and a 6-pack and take along to the tire place when mounting your tires on the freshly painted rims. They can use the detergent instead of the usual gunk they put on, and the 6 pack will be incentive for them to be extra gentle with them. Not sure what size tires you're using, or if you plan using the stock hubcaps, but I wanted all my wheel weights on the rear, and he had to remount the one tire twice so that it would only need minimal weights to balance.

BTW, looking great! Enjoying watching this one progress. And also, I fear we may have similar fates with our attempted body work. :)
