I have seen several Howell system that started and ran good. But when the tune was actually checked (wide band O2 tuning) the tunes were always far off the chart out of tune. A good rebuilt used carb is usually closer to being in tune then the Howells are.

X2 on that. There's been a few guys on this board that had quite a few issues with howell setups. May have been more due to there non stock engine but for the price theres better options out there. On a side note if you do go with TBI I have a holley 670 TBI throttle body that was only used a week or so Still in the box. That I would let go for fairly cheap.;D

If my hand was forced, I'd run the exploder set up.

EECV is a lot faster at processing than EECIV.

Howell is one of the vendors that, based on feed-back from various forums, I'd specifically avoid. I'd sooner go the JY route and burn my own PROMs.

If your motor is strong, I'd really consider dropping the Mustang EFI on your current motor. That is what I did. I had an 88k Explorer motor, but my motor was rebuilt and had significantly less miles, so I kept it. Most the Explorer motors are getting high miles. If you can find a cheap donor, I'd strip everything good off it and go from there. Maybe you can convert your motor to a cam position sensor/coil packs/OBDII, but I don't know what that would take.

We should meet up and I'll show you what is involved. I have a couple extra parts left from my swap too.
