^^ I'll never understand how that T- Bird flopped either, they were ahead of the curve on the retro movement IMO. What engine was in them? Were they underpowered? Or did they handle like crap?

They had the Jag sourced 3.9 in them. I don't remember why specifically, but seems to me the general consensus was they sucked.

Add to that they were more than twice as expensive as any previous T-bird (even corrected for inflation).

Twice the cost and less performance than before rarely sells to performance auto buyers.

It was a two seater
Which makes it a toy
And it cost as much as a two seater BMW or Benz or Vette or Porsche only without the prestige and performance and or status

No one gonna pay BMW prices for a Ford
The neighbors won't be suitably impressed

Nope. The forty nine was a four seater

Seriously? %) Potato patato. The Forty Nine was the concept precursor to the 2001-2005 Ford Thunderbird. In the world of automotive concept to production, the Ford Thunderbird means they did make the Forty Nine. But if you want to be picky, the Lincoln LS was a four seater on the same platform and it flopped to. So they didn't "miss the boat" by not building the Forty Nine, it would have been a flop too.

49 looks a lot better than a Lincoln LS.
Plus it's not a geezer Lincoln

Only geezers drive lincolns
Unless you could the overpriced expedition named the navigator
And usually it's a ghetto drug dealer driving it

We talking about this Lincoln LS ?
That looks like a bland Mitsubishi or something
That's as good looking as the 49?

I kinda like it. Not a fan of the wheels or the ford oval in the grill
