1/4" steel plate I formed up to fit around the bottom and up and over the ring gear. hopefully will add some protection if a tire slips and the axle comes crashing down.
I've gotta keep an eye out for those transfer case mount brackets. My frame didn't come with them. I saw a set in eBay for $60 but I want super cheap and within driving distance.
Tonight I tack welded the new lower bearing in my '76 auto column then threw on some new paint. lucky for me the upper bearing and everything else inside the column was in good shape so I saved some time by not having to take it all apart. might have to find a new shifter arm though, the one out of this one is pretty pitted.
