Ok ,so my plan is to use the explorer upper intake, harness and computer from my 1998 explorer donor. My bronco now has a 351 from a 1989 ford truck that was converted to an edelbrobk carb. Here are some pics of my bronco and my donor.

I picked up a lightning intake on ebay, it looks real nice. I gave it a new coat of paint so it matches my motor.

I'm gonna be watching too, as I am in the beginnings of building a 351 (418) for my Bronco as well...I'm using the Tubular GT40 upper and I scored a Lightning lower on here about 2 weeks ago after I'd been looking for about 3 months. Your's looks great! I still have to clean mine up and paint it...:)

Archie is about 25 lbs he looks smaller just the way the picture is. He is always curious what is going on. The guy I got my intake from also has a cast one for around $416

Congrats on finding one, it is deffinetely a difficult part of the project. I know I had kinda a hard time. I like the painted look. My motor is the dark ford blue so I painted the intake to match. The pics look like the same color as before but it is darker in person.

Anyone know, are the lines running coolant to the intake something I should use? It seems like there is very little antifreeze in the intake. If they arent needed I will just block them off.

so i take it that since your using the 98 upper and computer you are also using the EDIS system to?

If so how are you going to drive the cam sensor?

Im planning on keeping it basic no emissions except the front 02 sensors. Im planning on sending the harness and computer to efi guy to get it fixed up. My 351 is all stock with the exception of long tube headers so I think he should be able to get a good tune.

Im not sure on the cam sensor yet. I may use all explorer serp and get the balancer rebalanced or I may try to add a tone wheel to my existing setup.

Ill figure out the cam sensor once I get it out and can give it some thought.

harness

I got out my engine harness and trans harness today. Im glad im not doing this in the u-pull it yard ,it took most of the day to get it out. I still need to pull the obd2 port and wiring with it. I also need to pull the box that holds the computer.

I had a tough time pulling the PCM box, I never did get the ground strap out of the dash. I used a box knife to cut the seam sealer from the firewall. For the OBDII port, you just need a few inches of wire from it, then splice it to your harness. I had EFI Guy make up a second PCM as a spare. I don't know where else you're going to find one if you need it?

I have seen that someone else also had some trouble getting out the pcm box. Mabe that can be tomorrows project. The spare pcm is a absolutely great idea. If you have a pcm failure you are in big trouble if you dont have a spare. I might have to go to the u-pull it and get a second one. Would any of the similar years work. Mine is a 98, I know there are like 3 v8 explorers over there but im not sure what years they are.

Nice. You are exactly where I was one year ago. New years eve 2012 I drove my Bronco carbureted for the last time. That day I pulled the carb and all related "stuff" off of the motor. I spent all of January 2013 tinkering, waiting for parts, etc, and by the end of January I was driving a fuel injected 351w lightning/explorer setup with Mustang computer. Such a worthwhile project... enjoy!
