You're doing a great job Anton. That truck is gonna be loaded! BTW, I'm heading to Costa Mesa mid August.

I bought the rotors from brake labs. I thought about going the wilwood or Baer route, but the more research I did I realized it wasn't necessary. I'll have EB rotors/calipers on the front with Chevy spindles/knuckles. For the rear I have Lincoln mark V's. All with hydro. Should (I hope) stop good.

Hey Keith, thanks! I just hope to get it done. It's been really hard to find the time. Mid-August ill be back in Toronto. Otherwise I'd say come help finish my truck... I know you still have that EB feeling burning inside.

Newest member of the family... Not sure yet if I'm keeping her though. And a couple pics of the Bronco with painted top and some trim. Not much progress to report

Still no real progress but I did test fit the wheels and tires. The wheels won't stay fully polished, too blingy for me. Graphite, cast grey or black painted centers and polished lips. Looks like I might have a rubbing issue on the rear even with the 4.5" of BS. I should have went a little more (4.75") and worried about the front later. There's TON's of room in the rear wheel wells. I didn't even need to relocate my shocks inboard and I could have fit 5" of BS with no issue. If there's enough material on the wheels I'll have them shaved down a 1/4" or so. I also found my trac bar is off to the left by a couple inches, so the left front wheel in these pics is sticking further out than it should. Still trying to decide if I should lower it an inch or two. I'll probably get it driving and see how much it settles then decide.

The bronco is suppose to get its final color sanding and buff this week then I'll FINALY tackle the wiring (hopefully). I'm starting to understand why people pay to have the work done. It's REALLY hard for me to find the time, but I REALLY want to finish this myself. It's what makes it fun and enjoyable, knowing I built it myself (with help from others). I've never paid anyone to finish a car for me and I don't wan't to start now, but I want this thing done!!!

And please ignore the messy garage... I had to make room for another project. Too many parts, too little storage.

Got a few things done today. Rear lift gate struts, front hood shocks, tailgate cables, rocker trim mounted (drivers side only), bronco sport emblems, fuel filler necks and caps. I wanted to get the tailgate finished but lost my original mechanism to activate the latches. I thought I had bought a new one but I either lost or never ordered another one so I had to order it today. I was also going to mount my front bilstein's but I think they're too short. I only have 3.5" fully extended below the bottom mount.

All in all, it felt great having some time to get at it. It was a little unnerving drilling Ito fresh paint:-[

The more I looked at the Bronco, the more it sits too high. I measured the frame to axle and it is 12.5" in front and 11.0" in rear. That add's up to 5.5" and 5" of lift. Way more than I wanted. The part number for the Cage/Sexton lift I have is for a 3.5" lift, so I guess their measurements are WAY off. I even threw on my vintage dealer installed Ramsey winch/bumper and it only came down an 1". So I did the logical thing and ordered some WH 3.5" coils and springs. Hopefully this will get the bronco sitting where I want it.

I've also decided to have the wheels re-welded with more offset so they'll tuck a little better. I've only talked to the shop on the phone so I won't know how much I can gain till I bring the wheels in.

I also had the Bronco color sanded and buffed at Classy Cars Auto Detail and what a difference it made!!! Jeff (the owner) did and amazing job removing all the imperfections. This guy knows paint. He has done cars for Chip Foose and other master builders. Even after having it home for a year the paint was really soft and had all kinds of solvent issues (wasn't mixed good and sprayed in an inadequate booth without proper venting) but he was able to save it. You can hold a prescription pill bottle up to it and clearly read the label. Wasn't cheap but it was worth every penny. Anyone in SoCal that needs a detail or paint restoration, this guys the sh*t!!!

I'm out of town again but I'll post up some pics when I get a chance. I'll have some time to work on it at the beginning of march, so hopefully I'll make some progress. My new official completion date is FFF 2015. Damn that seems a long way away...:-[

Thanks for the support. Hope they do what you're looking for this time.
What I would say though, is that you probably will get what you expect from the fronts, but that our rears will likely sit high as well initially.
While they do settle over time, they don't do much without some help. With what looks to be a relatively light-in-the-rear Bronco, you might consider removing the third leaf from the top, and maybe even one of the little tiny leaves at the bottom.

And when you first have it apart, don't forget to drill the centering holes in the spring perches out slightly, before you start hoisting springs and have to juggle leaf packs and drill motors!

Good luck. Can't wait to hear how the wheels come out too.

Killer build! I like the salt flat style wheels and the plan to paint them as well.

I hope it's somewhat even:-[ I really don't wan't to ship these back for a set of 2.5's. My rear seat frame/speaker box probably weighs 100lbs so hopefully that will help. Will removing the springs affect ride at all? I'm using the Ruff Stuff perches and upper plates (even though I bought and already installed the WH heavy duty plates, nothing better than buying things twice) and I believe they are already drilled out.

On another note, thanks for sending Doug my way about the sliders. They're the newer tinted type, but thanks for thinking of me.

Anton,
What are you doing for wiring? fixing or a new harness?
Tyler

I went with the American Auto Wire (AAW) harness. Seems like the best of both worlds between Centech and Painless. Hopefully I'll get it installed in march and let everyone know my overall thoughts.

Should be enough to be able to feel the difference I would think. Road ride should be improved.
Lots of people do it actually. So many variations in truck weights and setups that it's common practice to fine-tune the springs to your particular needs.
Should still handle decently on the street too, but your weight carrying capacity would naturally be slightly reduced.

Should pop right in then.

Cool! Glad you guys hooked up. Sorry they weren't the earlier ones. From the sounds of it, that's what I thought he'd had.
Oh well... Keeping eyes open then.
