That vintage air fan uses a 100 amp fuse... That's the same as what we used to run for the Tauras back in the day.

Wild Horses has a front air dam with a built in tool tray SKU 4998, that others have used to help channel air for better cooling.
Yes!!!

Highly recommend that as well and made a difference in my temps while driving. Doesn’t matter for your fan operation but HUGE when driving so that the air must go through your radiator and not around it.

Also looks nice and much better place to put a tool while working.

Wow. That’s ridiculous. I do remember looking at that fan before deciding on the DeltaPAG one. There were a couple reasons I decided against it but don’t remember for sure.

Maybe not soft start and not as controllable. I’m controlling mine with my ecu so that it gives a certain % of duty based on engine temp and love it. I did get their controller just in case I couldn’t get it to work how I wanted but it is perfect.

I should find a log showing temp and cooling performance somewhere.

Just don't mount any electric fan to the radiator core. That dramatically shortens the life of the radiator.

Could two fans improve the temps, mounted away from the tight area???:oops::rolleyes:

Not sure if you’re serious with those emojis but the surface area of those two fans is less than one regular fan.

Won’t cool more. And those are thicker than a brushless fan anyway, even in the less thick part.

^^^ Was my first thought too, but doing the math on a couple samples it's going to depend in the actual sizes that will fit. If an 18" fits and those are 12"s then no, but if it's a 16" that is max and those 12"s still fit then yes the two fans will have more area.
Then you get into their individual CFM ratings........

HaHa!!! Those emojis represented my suggestion, I don't know!!! It would seem more radiator area could be covered by 2 fans than one single. PO mentioned his fan was tight where mounted. The pic was just to show my suggestion, that rad & fans came off a 96' LT1.

If a 16" fan is the only thing that fits, how will 2 12" fans fit?

I don't think stacking them will help cooling.

And still, even fitting them, you would not get the same pull as you could not have any shroud. They'd have to be attached to the fins.

So really, your comparison is what will cool better:
1) 16"18" single brushless fan that pulls like a badass and a shroud making it pull from the whole radiator.
OR
2) 2 small fans with no shroud pulling from a tiny part each and all that extra space not used.

I mean I guess you could make a shroud, but still, it's not going to cool more than a brushless fan with a shroud and it will be thick. Just search all the cooling threads. Might be enough but if you already have cooling issues, then no way.

Mine is a 16". Madgyver has the same fan I do but he fit the 18".

For mine, fan and shroud together I'm at like 3.1" thick.

Just FYI given your close fitment. It looks like you could likely fit a 6 or 7 blade standard belt driven fan on the pully. Together with the stock shroud you would likely be just fine. I too have a new engine that produces 365hp. I have the 6 blade (maybe 7 don't remember) belt driven fan and stock shroud with the exact same CVF v belt system. I run at 180 in nearly all conditions. After I shut it down it will increase to 200, but that's as high as it gets. I live in Texas so there is always warm weather. That set up would cost you about $100. Might be something to consider.

Well, if the radiator is only 17" tall, but 22" wide then it will likely work out that way. Since I've no idea what the OP's radiator's dimensions are I have no idea what will and won't fit.

As to a shroud, I see no reason why they can't be fitted to a shroud with two holes in it. Given the space available they aren't going to be very far away from the core, which is a decided performance reducer but that closeness won't be limited to only a dual fan set-up.

As to brushless vs brushed, that is why I mentioned the relative CFM's. I don't really care whether brushed or brushless, what I'm interested is CFM from a fan that will fit. If a 12" fan actually moved more air than the 16" fan (unlikely, but IF), then I'd be looking to use the 12" fan.

Just looking at the picture, you still have ~40% of the core without any fan.
From (in)experience and trying that in the past, complete failure. Every time I tried to invent my own cooling system like that, it didn't cool good enough. Took a full coverage fan shroud to properly cool. Been proven again and again for the past 20+ years.

Hey, yes sir, that pic was all I had showing 2 fans, when it was installed, it had a shroud. It came out of my 46' Convertible resto-mod (Cheby engine), which all got removed. Totally agree with you on needing a shroud. :) :) :)
