It's all good.

I am trying the VIN/law enforcement route, but I'm curious what you mean by using the DMV?

I'm not sure if you are, but if you're asking what the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) is, in some states there is a public office where you do all things automotive. Renew registrations, transfer tags, driver's licenses etc.. They usually have a database terminal that can locate most any vehicle or person based on VIN or DL number. They are not known for their efficiency or friendliness though. In fact in PA a visit to the DMV for a driver's license photo can be a real hassle, and very unpleasant. However if you know someone on the inside chances are they can look up that VIN and get you an address or status of your Bronco and its current owner. I think that VIN is your key to determining the fate of your Bronco. I wish you luck with this endeavor and even if you don't find your old Bronco, the good news is that you have stumbled upon a community here that will help you find, rebuild and treasure another!

Good luck!

Unfortunately I'd lose my certification and probably my job if I published or released any info from the vin return (it's not for personal use). I suggested she go the tax office (DMV) route.

This is exactly my experience in CA. The DMV there is a total joke. Here in Montana, it's a very pleasant experience; shocking, I know. Thanks for your information and encouragement Rich.

Bump back over to the top ya'll....;)the beat goes on....%)

Thanks Half Cab! I'm so excited to check the mail today. I'm thinking that my letter to texas might have been returned by now. Come to think of it though, I really don't want the letter returned. I want it to be forwarded to the actual owner of my ol' baby.

Thanks bptommy, I appreciate the offer. I don't know if you need to bother though as I found out that my bronco has not been registered in TX since 2001

I'm assuming this means 1 of 2 things...the owner moved out of the state, or the vehicle has been scrapped. Okay 3 things...possibly it's on some ranch being driven as an un-registered farm truck. Am I missing any other possiblities?

I'm still looking in other states, but it a very slow process. I've also tried contacting a/the previous owner, but so far no response.

I've read the whole thread ! I usually skim through looking for pics or whatever. This is a good one!

Welcome and good luck!

I have a friend that lives up the road from me that has an orange bronco. He's had it for awhile. I don't know where he got it but I will catch him next time he goes by and get the rundown on it. I know he had it repainted a few years ago but it was repainted the same color. I also remember it having a "different looking" top on it before the black one unless my mind is playing tricks on me.
I sent him an email
I will get back to you ASAP on this.

Thanks for reading my thread itsabronco. Your lead has potential, so my fingers are crossed. :)

BTW, had the bronco dream last night (we found it). Then I woke up. Dang, so close.
