Ordered some ball joints. My steering was slow to react and someone recommended I check my ball joints.

Never heard quite that diagnosis for bad ball joints.
Slow reactive steering would have ball joints pretty low on the list I would think. Or they’d have to be so far gone you’d feel them in other ways as well.
What type of steering linkage do you have, and what else has been done to your steering?

And what exactly is leading you to believe it’s slow reacting?
To me that description is something that indicates a lot of other things before ball joints.
Of course, if you did test them and they are loose and worn, then you do need to replace them.
But you should look at a whole lot of other things as well.

And is the video of your specific bronco? I assume it is, but my first thought when I saw the preview was that it was just another YouTube example.
However if that is yours, there are definitely some loose things. I thought I even saw something loose unrelated to the ball joints, but can’t be sure.
Can you do that same test and look at other things such as track bar mounts, tie rod, draglink and steering box?

Thanks.

Oh, and I would have to say this deserves its own thread. Definitely opens up lots of room for discussion usually.
Any steering discussion usually does.

I painted mine with summit Racing Pacific Blue yesterday. I had to throw a couple of screws in the flares and rocker guard to get a sense of how it's going to look in the end,

Son and I installed the timing cover, water pump and oil pump on the new 351w this weekend. Man I hope it doesn't leak, but will be a while before we find out. Still a ways to go before we drop it in.

I said slow reacting, but maybe I should have said sloppy. Going straight its fine, but on curvy roads I need to turn the steering wheel almost 2” before the rig starts turning. Ive got the chevy 1 ton tie rods that I put in probably 15 years ago. So I’m going to replace those as well. Track bar mounts/bushings are 1 year old. The steering box is a 4x4x2 that I bought from you guys probably 12 years ago. Do those wear out?

Finished running all sections of the Painless Harness. Hooked up all the gauges into the custom dash and at least verified they are getting power. I went with a gauge set from SpeedHut. Easy install. One main transformer wire that connects to each gauge that powers the LED backlighting and needle illumination. Had to place a magnet GPS receiving unit for the Speedo on the outer lower frame of the windshield. Turned it over once real quick to make sure the ignition was all wired up correctly. Now to change the oil, drain the old gas out of the tank and lines and get it ready to test run. Then onto the family cage, tub doors, and new bumpers. Hope to have some pics of the completed dash up soon.
