The driveshaft I got from Bronco vendor had that as well. I think its teflon? mine seized up too. peeled the junk off and ran it as is. there is a bit of slot in the spline but oh well...
Trans jacks are a great tool. I was lucky enough to buy a used one from a friend. Have used it several times. (unexpectedly burned up a couple trans's). Now another friend has borrowed it... one of those tools that get passed around between friends...
Can't beat a fluid to water cooler, I bet you will be fine just the way you are. I would try it out and add a stacked plate cooler if necessary later on.
I vote Explorer serpentine but I may be a little biased... ;)
Lots of improvements all in 1 package. Great fan, lots of amps from alternator, very capable p.s., no belt squeal. did mine 7 or 8 years ago and haven't looked back. no regrets.
