    77 Bronco Rebuild with 429

I hope it's a big Bronco. The 385 series engine is a big mutha. Huge compared to a Windsor and a lot heavier, too. If you need/want a big block, go with a stroked Windsor. If that's not enough, try an FE -- it's still a big block but smaller and lighter than the 385 series 429/460's.

    Explorer 302 build

I'll be in the same boat soon -- I have a stock 302 in my '69 but recently sourced a later model roller 302 with E7 heads. I plan to harvest the timing cover off the original engine and run the stock '69 front dress. I'll run a carb, and I plan to run an original (but rebuilt) stock mechanical...

    Cylinder Head Advice

Gotcha. I've never yanked an engine at a pull-a-part but can't imagine it would be that difficult as long as the yard has a forklift to pluck it out. Thanks

    Cylinder Head Advice

How hard is it to find one of these at a pick n pull? I'm thinking about doing it myself.

What have you done to your Bronco today?

Went to machine shop to drop off a 7.3 IDI diesel block and to see if the machinist still had some 3 bar GT40 heads for sale for my low-buck 302 roller build. He has 'em, but they're piled behind a decade or so worth of blocks, cranks, parts, etc. Hope he has dug them out by the time I show up...

331 Stroker, 347 Stroker, or 351W? Custom built or crate?

Some good info here^^. I'm going with a 302 roller motor for my '69 budget build, but I'm also doing a 1" lift to help out with NP-435 trans swap. Having said that, if you're comfortable with the issues associated with a 351W swap, then it's a no-brainer. More cubes = more torque and that's...

Transmission choice to improve driving experience for wife.

JB - Can you please explain the "enjoyable driving experience" piece? Maybe something that shifts less like a truck and more like a car? Scott

    Back on the Road!

That's a beauty! As for the studs, that engine should have pressed-in studs so about the only think I know to do is to remove the head and bring it to a machine shop, where they would either drill a hole through the boss and stud and pin it in place or install screw-in rocker studs. You can...

    EB BODYS

Given the price that a nicely done Bronco brings these days, spending $11,000 on a tub isn't that bad of an idea.

In Depth Discussion - Selling Title and Glovebox Door with Tag, Title Issues, etc.

I know that in Texas when applying for a bonded title (I've done this 2x) they have the local police department check the vehicle for the official VIN. In San Antonio, the local vehicle theft division is responsible for this, and they know to look for the frame VIN on the Bronco. Not sure on...

Barn Find to Daily Driver - a "Drive it Ugly" '69 Bronco Project!

Brought my 72 Alfa Romeo GTV home a few days ago and the Bronco got temporarily banished to an off-site storage unit. Again. It'll return to the main garage once the Alfa is sold.

    Broncos in the Weeds

My '69 project - barn find hunting vehicle that came out of Mississippi - you can see the rotten old Buckshot mudders here, the crudely cut rear wheelwells, the "ventilation holes" cut into the rear quarters (owner had a dog kennel back there), the platform on the back with a seat on it, etc. I...

    1974 CB Rear Axle Question

You also asked about the best all-around gear, and that really depends on a lot of things, but a 3.50 is a pretty good start, especially for something that doesn't send any time off-road. To give you a more detailed response, you'll need to provide more info - what engine and is it stock or has...

New guy here: UPDATE page 3 with pics - Going to look at a 76 that's been sitting.

Here's a video I did a few years ago of a first start on a '72 Bronco after sitting 20 years or so. You will likely not need to take all these steps if it's only been sitting for 4 years, but some of it may be useful.
