Dana 20 How to reach the attachment bolts?

I replaced my transmission a while back and I did mine the same way. Supported the transfer case with the transmission jack and used a swivel and extension to bolt everything back up with the cross member off, then put the cross member on. I didn't encounter any bolts I couldn't get to.

    SOLD .................................

I'm in for one! A shifter boot that is. Well hinge covers also if that happens.

Good day out with the boy and the Bronco

Some of my earliest and fondest memories are driving in our Bronco with my dad. We had a long (1.5mi), steep driveway when I was a kid and he used to plow it just enough that we could sled down it. I loved riding around with him while he plowed. As I got older we took camping trips in the...

    '66 Only Options/Specs

I have an 8/'65 U14 that has a long shifter that I am pretty positive is original.

    66 air cleaner

It is really hard to find aftermarket setups that clear the hood. Classic Inlines used to sell an adapter that would allow adaptation of a standard 2V-4V air cleaner or carb hat which apparently worked great, but the owner passed away unfortunately.

    66 air cleaner

I have the original oil bath on my Bronco. They are really cool, but they can be a mess sometimes. I have seen a few people convert them to accept a dry-type filter inside the oil bath housing so you still get that classic look without the mess, which is kinda cool.

    66 air cleaner

I have an original '66 Bronco shop manual and it mentions both types of air filter assemblies, dry and oil bath.

    1966 Axle Tag Decode

While obviously locking or limited slip differentials offer benefits for offroading, open differentials suffice in many situations and I would hardly call a Bronco with open diffs "two wheel drive."

    1966 Axle Tag Decode

If it makes any difference as far as reference goes my VIN axle code for my '66 is A5 and my front axle is C6TA-AC and it is not limited slip.

    '66 DSO Code

How cool! That's so awesome you have the full history on your '66. I hope I'll be able to dig up enough dirt to do the same with mine. One of the joys of owning a classic for sure ;D

    '66 DSO Code

Yep #6 on the list of oldest (on CB.com anyway) as far as I know. 170 I6. Having no reports or history does make it tough, but I have made a bit of progress with the history. It's been in the family for a while so that helps as some of my relatives have bits and pieces of info about it, but it...

    '66 DSO Code

That's interesting. I'll have to see if I can dig up any more history on the truck to see where that fits in.

    '66 DSO Code

I just took a look at my VIN plate on my '66 and noticed the DSO code was 89. The EB VIN decoders say that's "transportation services." Has anyone ever seen that code or have any more info on DSO codes? I can't find much more info on it and it seems weird. Thanks.

Earliest Broncos known to exist (1-30)!!

Yeah I'm not exactly sure what's up with the mirrors, but that is always the first thing people ask about if they know Broncos. I just chalk it up to uniqueness. Since I was a kid my dad and I have made it our source of father/son quality time and here we are 23 years later still working on it...

Earliest Broncos known to exist (1-30)!!

It's been with my family since the mid 70's and we knew the folks who bought it new. From what I've gathered from them, they were on there when they bought it. I was thinking maybe in the early days of production when Ford was trying to get them off the line, either they ran out of regular...

Earliest Broncos known to exist (1-30)!!

I took the front bumper off briefly over the summer to do some mount point repair, it's back on now.

Earliest Broncos known to exist (1-30)!!

My Bronco is U14FL732072. I can send or post some pics. I would day it's 95% original. Missing a rear bumper and the rear fenders are cut unfortunately. Other than that, things are in good shape. I've been working on bringing it back to good working mechanical condition for about a year now.

    Rebuild 170 I6

Yeah I don't really have space to store an extra engine. It's not so much about best investment more than keeping with the originality of the truck. The chances of it leaving my possession (until it possibly gets passed to my, currently non-existent, offspring) are basically nil. I'm definitely...

    Rebuild 170 I6

Oh I love the straight 6. It's great for four wheeling and cruising around town. My family has had this Bronco since the 70's and I just recently took possession of it, but that 6 has just kept going and going. It used to be a plow truck so it saw some abuse too. I've talked with the Bronco Hut...

    Rebuild 170 I6

I've thought about swapping for a 200. I don't want to get rid of the 170 though as it's the original engine and my '66 is almost completely original and I'd like to keep it that way. I think it adds some coolness to it. Plus like I said I don't have much garage space so storing another engine...
