It looks like that weekend is clear for me, so I will be more than willing to work on whatever you may need me to. Let me know if you need any additional tools or equipment. Jalepeno, let me know if you need anything hauled down, I can take my box truck down if you need me to.

Thanks. Looks like Im making the trip Thurs. so we have time to unload & ease into it.

'Ease in to it' my arse. Since I've been out of commission fer 6 months now....you gots a set of F-150 D44 outers to pull off another truck so you will have disk brakes to go on your rig whilst we have your 44 all out and torn apart.

Pat and I plan to ride the motorcycle down Friday after work if the weather looks good. My parents will also be coming down.

Bill, you have a ramp at your place to launch a boat, correct? My dad was thinking he might bring down his jet drive bass boat to go out and look around and maybe fish a bit if he gets a chance.

My 'ramp' is just a patch of beach that we use to launch (seldom to recover) on high tide once in a while...the full-monty public boat ramp (2 lanes of it) is in that little park just on the mainland side of the island bridge, which makes it closer to the hotel than my place is even. Best he launch at the public ramp (its free) and then bring the truck & trailer on down to my place if he does not want to leave it in the ramp parking lot.

Of course he can dock the boat on my pier all weekend..no worries there.

Picked up two quarts of Eastwood Rust Encapsulator
http://www.eastwood.com/rust-encapsulator.html

I'm not familer with that product, but for the cage, I would suggest a primer and then PPG chassi black from their industrial line.

For clean metal I'm not sure you need a rust type paint like POR. The PPG paint above gives a very nice satin black that looks great IMO. It can be used with or without a hardner. The hardner adds just a slight bit more gloss to it and still looks very good. This paint and hardner is also very inexpensive compared to other products we have used.

We now use this exclusively for all our frames, most bumpers, cages, etc.

If interested, I can get the PPG PN's off the cans tonight. I have a PPG dealer just down the road and could pick some up and have my dad bring it down in the car (I hope to be on the bike) if you want.

Just a note for all who have interest in the subject of paint for the W & R: There is nowhere local to get anything resembling paint around here excepting rustoleum at the hardware store. So..keep that in mind as you figure out what needs painted with what..and bring it with ya.

Parts and general hardware..no worries at all. It's just paint and painting supplies that is a PITA to get around here locally and my stock has dwindled significantly since no resto projects have gone through the shop in probably 2 years or more

I wasn't even thinking of paint! When it comes to paint I'm far from picky; just let me know what's easier & better for our time constraints and Ill get how much of whatever you suggest. Eastwood's a few minutes up the road from me, if that makes the decision easier.

Unless your doing frame connectors, I would assemble, put it in, drill all the holes, make sure it fits/mounts, and then leave it loose. Take it out when you get home and paint it when you have more time.

That too is an option, of course...but we can deal with painting, of course, so would be nice to have it painted before sending it up the road.

I spoke w/ Allen who stated he would be doing any painting. He knows I have the eastwood stuff. I asked if there was anything else we would need & he said we would have everything we needed. I also have no problem doing it at a later date.

I spoke to jalapeno today and I also called Eastwood. The product we are using doesn't require a top coat and since we are painting new steel it will work just as good as POR-15 (and alot cheaper at $35 a quart). It also dries alot faster than POR. We could top coat it with the PPG if he wanted. I have all the other supplies to prep the roll bar and skid plate. Once prepped it won't take much time at all for me to paint it. If we painted it he won't have to try to R&I the cage for paint.... at least that's our plan :)

I'll probably pull my boat for the weekend, it needs transom work anyway. That will free up the good spot at the end of the pier. Oh....and I know where the perch are too:D We caught 8 for dinner Sat night in less than an hour...with a trollin motor and a capt not on a cel phone , should be a cinch :D

Oh...... my wife's trying to figure out how much of what to get, as far as food, drinks or anything else guys may want. She even took an extra vacation day to go shopping while I was at work. If anyone has any suggestions/ requests (other than if she has sisters:p), let me know & Ill pass it on.

I've been in touch with your wife via email as well as Ford Filly and I think we have the food and drink covered pretty well. We'll make a final run through the list of what Ellen is getting and what I am getting shortly.

I'm looking forward to this project. Unfortunately I have to work all day Friday so we won't leave home until about 7pm, allowing time for most of the Wash DC rush hours to clear. We hope to arrive at the compound by 10pm. I hope I can squeeze the RV in somewhere...
