I'll probably pull my boat for the weekend, it needs transom work anyway. That will free up the good spot at the end of the pier. Oh....and I know where the perch are too:D We caught 8 for dinner Sat night in less than an hour...with a trollin motor and a capt not on a cel phone , should be a cinch :D

Any idea on how much a short term non-resident fishing licence is? What is the limit on Perch?

I was thinking we needed to find a good job for my dad (other than the supervising role he likes so much! ;)) , maybe we can have him go out and catch fish to fry!

Drew, I have to stop at that store in the morning, it's about a mile from the hotel. I THINK it's less than 20 bucks for the 3 day...I'll find out for sure, and the limit for you tomorrow and post up. I'll share the two good spots I know about with him too.

Drew looks like 6 bucks for the five day bay sport license. I got him a regulations book, and a few of the beetlespins the perch have been gobbling...You can get the license at the little store in piney point by lighthouse road.

BMC or PHILLY, is there a preferred route when coming from the north?

Depends on what you mean by 'north'. Anything north and east that would involve coming down I83?...come all the way around Baltimore via 695 and then continue south on 97. From there, my preferred route is to peel off on 3/301 and stay on that until it hits MD 4...stay on MD4 from there all the way to Solomon's Island and beyond, until its time to take a couple back roads and find yr way here to the island..

495 around the Mormon Temple is very congested no matter what time of day. . You might want to go 66.

Randy - I'm not sure what you've got in mind, but Rt 17 will put you on I-95 south headed toward Richmond. Not in the direction of So MD.

That's the way I am planning on going - from Manassas south on 95 to 218 at Falmouth and then pick up 301 into MD. Not interested in heading towards DC on a Friday! 17 hits 95 right at Falmouth so no need for Randy to get on I95 a all.

Randy, if your interested maybe we could meet up on Friday morning close to where 17 and I95 meet up. I think there is a Wa Wa on 17 just a bit west of I95. Any thoughts on what time you might get there? (But not too early!)

Rt 17 peels off I66 not that far east of I81 and meanders south until it hits 301 at Port Royal. From there you take 301 in to MD and then hang a right on MD 234 and continue south as 234 ends/blends with MD 5. We are off MD5 at the end of rt 249..which is on yr right about 8 miles or so south of Leonardtown.

That is exactly how we get back and forth between here and Gore/Winchester. I66, I95, I270 etc are to be avoided if at all possible. For those coming down from central or eastern PA...in yr case, avoiding the DC or Baltimore beltway mess is hard to do; there really are no 'back road' options in that case.

from eastern PA on 95 south there is no traffic southbound Friday evening. I travel that everyday, all traffic is NB in the evening. I would go 95 south to 895 to 97 south to 3/301. For the middle PA guys they could go 70 to 32 east to 97 south to avoid the Baltimore beltway.
