Are we sure that BSDP is Bucket Seat Dash Pad? My tag has that and my PO told me it used to have a Bench Seat. Could it be Bench Seat Dash Pad?

Hoping to see more tags to clarify what the codes mean. As Scott C. also stated, the BSDP could also mean bucket seats driver and passenger as there were some broncos out there with only a driver's seat too. So all our guesses are as good as each others!

Mfreeze, thought I would post your tag on here as well. tim

Thanks Tim. Mine was under the vent assembly on the passenger side along with a couple of washers, nuts and a small open-end wrench the previous owner no doubt lost. ;D

Here's a bigger pic:

casadejohnson,
I believe the term "buck tag" was coined because the metal tag was generated and attached when the vehicle was "framed" meaning the operation where the bodysides were welded to the floor pan. The tooling that clamped and held these bodysides and underbody together for welding was called the "buck". In the early 60's a number of plants had bucks that were manually operated by a person who physically loaded the parts to the fixture and closed misc. clamps to hold the parts for welding.

Thanks for the information! I was just curious as to where the term came from.

Found the Buck Tag to my 67! Thanks for the motivation to go out in the garage and look for it:

LGROOF MIR HTR

U15 M

V8 A00498

What does it all mean? If it helps at all, this EB originally had the bulkhead, 289, and possibly a bench seat instead of buckets. Gonna be an uncut Roadster "clone" when I am all done

LGROOF means the full top.
MIR is for mirror.
HTR is for a heater
U15 is the series code
V8 is for 289CI V8 engine
A00498 is for the sequence number witch should match your VIN

Standard equipment was a bench seat with a bulkhead so no codes needed for them.

Cool thread, I've never seen these before in any of the 4 I have had. Does anyone know how late into the 70's these ran?

My 75 F250 has one. Attached is a pic...the funny item next to it is some mechanism to monitor fuel economy (with corresponding light on the dash). The previous owner cut the wire--probably kept flashing in the cab ("YES, I know I only get 8 mpg!") ;D

Ha! Thats awesome! Back in 75 - 8 mpg for a 3/4 ton truck was probably pretty good! First car was 78 Ford compact with the neck snapping 2.3L and I think it only got 20.

Buck tags are used on alot of cars, I know my 86 GT has one, but seems to be pretty rare on Early Broncos, mostly 66's it looks like.

I think I foolsihly remember removing a metal tag secured on a wire, and tossing it asside. Mine had writing on it, like a pen makes on tin foil. It was not stamped like some of the others shown. I am going to thave to do a full hard target search in the garage, hen house, farm house, out house, etc. to see if it is still around.:-[
